Magical

We love going on hikes at Root Glen, especially after it rains. It gives it a magical forest feel. There are plenty of trails to hike and plants to look at.

Wander at your OWN pace
Apr. 2019
A rainy afternoon did not diminish the pleasure of Root Glen. A light drizzle accompanied us on our exploration of the varied ferns and other plant life in this beautiful setting. There are many opportunities for sitting to soak up ones surroundings. Though the Glen is close to the college, one has a peaceful, calming sense when walking the paths.

Zen like
Jul. 2019
On a scorching hot day in Clinton, we decided to walk through the woods, where it was at least 10 degrees cooler. We had an umbrella stroller for our 10-month old, which we were able to maneuver through the trails with no problems at all (although a jogging stroller would likely have been easier). Out almost-four-year-old thought it was an adventure. As a new resident to Clinton, we will add this to our rotation of local trips.

Off season but still good
May 2019 • Couples
We went in early may so much of the flowering plants were not in bloom. Still, it was a pleasant walk. I can see where in the late summer to fall, it would be magnificent. Lots of shaded trails leading to a variety of scenes. Easy walking and quiet with lots of benches to just sit and enjoy the tranquility.

Incredible. All-season beauty

Don't miss the Glen. Visit frequently in all seasons. Meditative, cool, gorgeous. In May, the peony garden is inspiring for this home gardener.

Root Glenn is an amazing place
Oct. 2018 • Couples
Set on the campus of Hamilton College in Clinton NY, this area includes a wonderful array of flowers. You can walk on the tree lined shale paths to the creek below and in summer it is a cool place to take refuge from the heat. One receives a sense of calmness and tranquilly while taking in all the beauty.

This area is amazing. Plants and trees have identification. Trails are clean and easy to walk. Benches in many places and lots of shade and comfort.

Nice walk

Well manicured trails, labelled trees, and a small stream. Parking is closeby and on the left as you go up the hill (our GPS wasn't clear).

Root Glen--a diamond within beauty!
May 2018 • Family
I walked this path with my two grand boys. At first, they didn't want to do it. But after they lifted two or three ID tags for trees and shrubs, and saw the winding path, crossing the stream, they almost both said in unison, this is more fun than I thought. I made converts out of them for loving something this beautiful and so well laid out for all to enjoy! Thank you for preserving this and making this part of Hamilton College. A must see and more than a diamond in the rough...it's beauty, plain and simple.
