I've only visited this park for their bike trail. But, the grounds are beautiful. We park and start in a woodsy area, then the path winds around picnic areas with playgrounds, camp grounds, and along the shoreline. By far, one of my favorite trails. It...More

Heckscher State Park has everything, swimming, camping, fishing, playgrounds, ballfields, beaches, boat ramps, picnic areas, walking trails, you name it. You can see all sorts of wildlife walking around year-round. It's just a beautiful place to spend a day or even more if you're camping.

Durning the summer it is great to relax on the beach and listen to the little waves. It is a good park when you are young and can not swim the waves are very small

Nice bicycle trail, boat launch, hiking paths & camp grounds; deer scattered around the park. Because of Superstorm Sandy, a lot of damage near the trails.

Wide open, well kept spaces. Love the free summer concerts. We last went to the LI Philharmonic concerts. There were literally hundreds of people there with blankets, food, candles and wine. Do as you like and enjoy the music under the stars!
