During my staying in New York I used to go to the beach in Far Rockaway. It is a chill beach, not too many amenities but perfect for a relaxing afternoon. Lifeguard services in some areas is provided. You can get here by subway, but to get to the beach from the Far Rockaway subway station it is going to... More

The beach is fun because you're in New York and there is good scenery, however there was trash all along the beach and the water is really dirty.

It had been a long time since my last visit. I was surprised to see the upgrades of the board walk, the cafe, sprinklers for the kids, the stage, fitness classes, concerts, of course it was the summer.

if you want easy parking and not very crowded waters come up to the 106th area, its pretty good over there, chill under the sun, a little more privacy than the other areas.

Great beach getaway that is closest to NYC. It is good because you dot need to go too far. Slide on the A train and you be there in less than an hour

After major repairs and renovations the rockaway boardwalk is a perfect place to take a walk and enjoy the sea. New play areas and sprinklers make this a wonderful place to spend a day or afternoon

First time at this beach but we had so much fun. The waves are huge at this beach. I disliked all the seagulls hovering around watching us eat. Very nice and quiet crowd in the area where we were located. I will visit again in the future.

Nice beach within city limits, easier trip than the Long Island beaches & no entry fee. Parking can be challenging on summer weekends, so get an early start or continue further to jacob Riis park if you can't find a spot. Stay near the buildings if you want to access food or restrooms

My understanding it's being revitalized since hurricane Sandy. Too bad the projects are in view. Project mentality keeps it dirty. It could be a gem, but surely the city isn't going to put money in keeping it clean.
