A delightful art museum in the boonies. Wonderful old house with great paintings by famous artists. A smaller version of the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston. Very knowledge and helpful staff. A great find.

What a surprise this wide-ranging collection is! Definitely walk through the house - it's a treat to see the furniture and decor interspersed with great art in place as the owner clearly enjoyed it on a daily basis. Renoir, Degas, Picasso are all represented. You...More

Reuben, Renoirs,a Goya and several other gems besides the Rembrant. Small but worth the side trip and then some. Amazing for a family collection in a quaint, spotless Adirondack village. Very easy for those going to Saratoga and/or Lake George.

One of the most beautiful Rembrandts in the US hangs here, far away from the hustle and bustle of busy art museums in large cities. But that's not all. A dozen or more true medieval and renaissance masterpieces that are undoubtedly overlooked by art lovers...More

Unassuming exterior but tastefully appointed rooms - i like the spare furnishing and the absence of object cramming which all-too-often happens in family museums. Pieces by Picasso, Degas, Rubens, Perugino school, van Dyck, El Greco & Rembrandt as well as impressive 15th century French tapestries....More

Art collected by members of a Gilded Age family benefiting from a paper fortune. Typical but generally high quality souvenirs from Grand Tours displayed in their home, now a house museum with modern exhibition wing. We were glad to include a visit on our art...More

The museum and home is a gem of a visit, both reasonably priced and amazing content. The home and linked gallery bring you top artists, wonderful architecture, and my favourite, - a wonderful classic library. Staff are exceptionally helpful, but not intrusive.
