I personally did not like this too much, what you do is rent or bring tools to break open rocks to find the herkimer diamonds. You are literally in a big gravel pit. which is very dirty. The day we went was 90 degrees out...More

Great way to use up some energy. Lots of rubble to dig through. Make sure you take plenty of drinks and wear sun screen.

The whole family enjoyed this outing and they want to return next year. We spent about four hours there and found many small crystals. We brought 2 pound hammers, safety glasses, work gloves, a large sledge hammer, and some chisels.

We had a great time breaking rocks and searching for crystals. You can rent equipment and bring your own lunch and drinks. Proper shoes should be worn, first aid kit can be handy.
