For those that aren't rock hounds this is an open pit mine were you are able to go out and hunt for Herkimer diamonds. (Water clear quartz crystals) To hunt effectively you need sunscreen (or cover up), proper tools, some safety gear, and sturdy shoes....More

remember, this is a MINE...its an open pit mine... so bring sunscreen, a sunshelter, a cooler with drinks etc.. the kids had a blast, but at 50 years old, i think i could fins better things to do in the HOT SUN, pounding a 2...More

I don't think there is a particular schedule. My understanding is after Ted & crew have mined on the right side, debris is moved to the left side where the public "mines" .
