Stunning beach

Great weather always. Forget the Canaries in Winter. The beds are well protected from sellers unless you wave them over....theyre an entertainment in themselves.

Lovely clean beach with palm trees. Stray dogs could be a problem for some but not for us.. We loved them ,never saw any of them use the beach as a toilet. Security keep the traders away.

I planned a trip to relax, a hotel, a beach to ease my mind. If you want to spend your holiday between drugdealers, pheadophiles and local boys chasing gay tourists to hand them over to the cops (homosexuality is threated with death sentence in Gambia), then this is the place for you. I've told the hotel staff about these things,... More

lovely amazing beach you can walk for miles in either direction. Lots of beach bars and juice bars all along it... easy to find a nice quiet spot if you want to chill out or stay nearer the bears and restaurants for lovely drinks and food! Horse riding and body boarding - it has it all - you can help... More

We stayed at Kotu Beach over Xmas and found the hotel to be positioned in the most idylic location, The staff are all really friendly and will do anything for you, the rooms were fairly basic but ok. We had the best view from our Balcony's. We had no problem with hot water as some have commented on here. The... More

Lovely beach for body surfing, plenty to watch while lying on a sunbed. Fewer restaurants than the Senegambia area, but enough to give you a new place to eat most evenings.

As long as you don't mind being pestered by the many locals trying to sell trips, fruits, fake sun glasses etc it is a lovely place to be. Miles of gold and black sand, a cold and turbulent sea under beautiful blue skies. Plenty of restaurants and bars to stop at along route from one end to the other. Various... More

A lot has changed since '84 and even then the building under the "transition" of the '90,s but the beach from has remained pure and pristine, largley unpolluted, power boat free, just the dotting of beach bars and watering holes from the north around Kotu Golf Coarse across the Koto stream, look for Africa birds, down along the Kolili sands,... Kotu beach is a beautiful long expanse of sand and has many different places to eat. It is a shallow area so the tide has a long way to come in and out! In one sense it is highly suitable for families as everyone can paddle safely but not if you want to build sand castles! There are many beach... More

The beach itself is fine. Cleanish with a pleasant tide. A few bars and restaurants which have Sun loungers available. However, the constant relentless offers of fruit, sunglasses, horse rides, juice, crafts, belts, watches etc... is scream out loud unbearable. I don't like being rude to people, especially when they're just trying to make a living, but getting heckled for... More
