Our tour group came in late in the day from San Miguel de Allende and our hotel was just a short walk away from the historic center. Because it was on a Saturday it was extremely busy. The city is a Unesco World Heritage Site. he architecture is from 17th & 18th centuries. Lots of cafes and lots of activity. Wish we could have arrived earlier as it got dark just after we arrived.

Seventh backpacker trip to Mexico. From the first hour, I felt good in Queretaro, a pretty city that mixes modern architecture with old. The historic center, is clean and so rich in history. A city postcard where I felt it was good to live. People are generally, kind is welcoming. It is a very safe city where there may be delinquency from to are industrial basin that creates jobs for the region. I'd like to live there

El Centro in Queretaro is both expansive and quaint at the same time. The restaurants and bars are plentiful around the many squares. The vendors are everywhere and are not aggressive in any manner. A simple "No gracias" and everyone is on their way. All sorts of shopping tiendas are all throughout El Centro. There are some that are a tad overpriced, but what do you expect in a tourist area. The best part are the people. We were there for two months and that encompassed Christmas and New Years. The nonstop entertainment along with the overall joy of couples, families and everyone in general was refreshing and heartwarming. A must do when you find yourself in Queretaro.

I love walking around the historic center. There's always a colorful mix of locals and tourists. (I have nothing against the beautiful new suburbs of QRO, but the locals have been living the way you see them today for the past 100 years. ) The Zocalo (Jardin Zenea) in the center of town is wonderful to visit on weekend evenings, where crowds dance to music, often local bands. Stop and get coffee or a' tres marias' sundae under the colonnade across the street. There are many good, reasonably priced restaurants in the center, and some wonderful and cheap taquerias, as well. The Sunday market at Jardin Guerrero has good, local crafts. And you can get your shoes shined by guys who've been there since I lived in the building next door in the 1960s. You can walk (north) to Rio Queretaro, then continue walking into local neighborhoods with their own colorful, local markets. Or you walk south thru lovely Alameda Hidalgo (often locked after hours, boo hoo) and continue to Parque Nacional El Cimatario, if your legs are in good shape.

Incredible!!! This is the word to describe this city....
Located near Mexico City, Queretaro has a wonderful center!! The tip is to take the City tour by bus or charming old carts...
The aqueduct is beautiful, the food is excellent... in short, a city worth visiting.

We visited Queretaro, Queretaro and Guanajuato and San Miguel de Allende (Gunajuato) and found this to be the nicest of the three to walk about - both of the others were over crowded - for Guanajuato city this was probably because of the Cervantes exhibitions - which I do not think are worth the bother, San Miguel had the best shopping.

The centro historico area of Queretaro is a sight to behold. The architecture and the history here rivals Guanajuato, Guadalajara or Mexico city. It is, however a city of only 1.5 million and this part is so special.

Since this city is a lively business center with international travelers coming and going, lots of people stay in high-rise hotels on the outskirts of town and may not visit the historic center. That would be a shame, as this city's center is a UNESCO World Heritage site and shouldn't be missed. So, if you head to Queretaro on business, take a half day at the very least, to browse the streets and plazas and historic sites of the old part of the city. Great places to stay and to eat here as well. For tourists and travelers, skip the big hotels in the burbs and stay in one of the smaller place in the center where you can walk to everything. It's well worth a visit.

The hotel has nice rooms near the garden, with a good view; the problem is when they have a party in the ballroom located close, they do not tell you two things: the lies on what it ends and they said they did not know when they have parties. It was a shame to see a mother with an infant in one of the corridors of the hotel trying to make the baby sleep despite the noise.
