Lovely tour

My husband and I went on a luncheon tour and it was just delightful. We even got to meet the owner of the castle who greeted us and introduced himself during our lunch.

We planned to tour the castle on our drive from The Hamptons to NYC but should have done better research. We drove to the back and had a nice view, while following our GPS only to find that it was posted as "Private Property". After asking directions at the local country club, we drove around and found the main gate,... More

Step back in time to European/Gold Coast elegance right off Jericho Turnpike. As a birthday treat a group of us made reservations for the tour and lunch. The enthusiastic guide brought the history alive, it was like stepping back in time. The gardens are beautiful and you seem far away from the reality of Long Island today. The fourth floor... More

I was there in April and had a lovely tour guide. Learn the history of Otto Kahn and how his home is there today because it was built with fire proof walls. Otto also wanted to be on the highest hill around at that time. The inside is lovely old furniture from the early 1900's. Spectacular views outside looking at... More

You feel important just driving up there. Everyone must be buzzed into the property via the gatehouse. Must make a reservation to visit as they sell out. Lovely grand estate that has been preserved, renovated, and one of America's Historic Castle Hotels. Just imagine it in its glory days. Stay and grab a bite at the bar. I always state... More

I had been wanting to visit Oheka for the longest time and was glad I had the opportunity to take a tour when a friend of mine came to visit from Israel. I have always loved visiting historical mansions (The Biltmore in Asheville is my favorite). To live on Long Island and have the second largest private residence just minutes... More

Oheka Castle was once a Wall Street banker's Golden Age house (2nd largest private house in the US in the 1920s), saved by one man; and he has opened it as a luxury hotel. If you don't want to stay there, you can visit on a once daily tour (reservations needed) which takes you through the restored public rooms (as... More

The tour was included in the room rate and I was glad, as it provided an opportunity to learn all about the Kahn family, "O"tto "He"nry "Ka"hn. Okeka is an acronym for the builder of the castle. After the tour, you are provided with refreshments of coffee, tea and cookies as a nice ending in one the amazing rooms.

I only got to see the house from the outside and the beautiful grounds and entrance way. Everything looks so fantastic. They do have a daily tour. At 11 a.m. But you have to call in advance for reservations. Or they won't have it or if there is no one that has called. The prices range from 20 for seniors... More
