Lively Run Goat Dairy is one of the longest operating commercial goat dairies in the country, beginning production in New York State in 1982 and pioneering goat cheese in the American marketplace. The entire Messmer family works to continue the mission of bringing to the Finger Lakes region healthy, sustainable and delicious goat cheese.

Come visit the farm, get a tour, see our baby goats in the spring, eat some cheese cake, and most importantly - try our cheese!

We had a great time visiting the goats and learning about goat cheese. The cheese tasting was fun and informative. Picnic tables available for you to eat lunch and hangout. Try the cheesecake made with Chevere and covered with chocolate! To die for!!!

This was our first visit here and we loooved it. We thought it was an excellent addition to the wine trail. For $3 per person we did a cheese tasting. It was a lot of fun and the cheese was delicious. Our "tour guide" was extremely knowledgeable and energetic. We tasted approximately 7 cheeses. We really enjoyed stopping here! The... More

Lovely little find in Cayuga Lake area where we were staying for a short vacation. The cheeses were absolutely lovely, we bought 3 kinds, the young man facilitating the tasting was very knowledgeable about not only the cheeses but also goat farming. We learned a great deal about the process and what affects the flavours of the cheese. A visit... More

We were introduced to Lively Run's cheese at a local winery that does pairings in its tasting room. The Chèvre was outstanding, so we visited the source and bought some. We came home with two different cheeses. Fun place. Excellent products.

During our visit to the finger lakes we visited a couple of vineyards and wanted something to keep my daughter happy and this absolutely fitted the bill. First we got to taste lots of different goats cheese (who knew how great these could be?) as well as ice cream and cheesecake - all from goats on the farm. Then we... More

We decided to visit after checking out of our bed and breakfast. Very pleasant tasting experience and we purchased 3 types of cheese afterwards. Worth a visit if you are in the area.

The farm was very close to our lodging "a Stone's Throw B&B" in Interlaken. This is an excellent way to spend some morning time before an afternoon of wine tasting. Luca greeted us in the shop and guided us through a cheese tasting. He was friendly and happy to answer any questions. After buying our cheeses, Luca encouraged us to... More

Worth the few minutes off your wine tour to taste one of Finger Lakes best Cheese tour stops! Beautiful goat cheese tasting for a small fee. But also offer other goat milk products including soaps, chocolates and Ice Cream. Cheeses are made onsite. Visit the goat barn as well. A family favorite!

This is a family owned and run small goat farm that produces delicious goat cheese and some cow cheese products. They offer a tasting of the 10 cheeses and and have all selections vacuum sealed and ready to go. The barn houses the cute goats that are responsible for making such good milk , ie cheese! The owners are very... More
