Buttermilk Falls was a bit of a disappointment, as very little water was cascading done this dry July. The rim walk is strenuous, with many, many steps to climb to view the whole falls. We made it up to the viewing spot and turned back,...More

This was our second stop after Robert H. Treman State Park and we were disappointed. In July, the water was hardly running down the falls, swimming hole was much smaller than Robert H. Treman State Park and the water was very cloudy. I'm sure after...More

Very tiring to walk up all of the stairs but worth the effort. Beautiful scenary. A must do while in Ithaca. We enjoyed our time together despite my husband not particularly enjoying hiking.

What a beautiful natural swimming hole! The water temp is posted on a sign and was only 61 when we went. There are roped off sections of the pool according the depth, and a diving board. Four lifeguard were on duty when we were there....More

The base of buttermilk falls is pretty amazing. We visited during the record heat wave last week during a stay at Cayuga Lake. We loved the swimming hole and claimed a picnic table on the periphery in the shade of the summer for our day's...More

This is a beautiful park with waterfalls along the hike. We did the gorge trail up and down, it took us a bit over an hour and it was totally worth the effort. There is an $8 entrance fee in the summer, if you happen...More

We were staying at the LaTourelle Hotel who's property backs up to Buttermilk Falls State Park. We started our hike from there and had a very do able, mostly down hill, 60 minute hike to the bottom of Buttermilk Falls and loved it. Not sure...More

Loved it! The hike is a bit challenging - many steps and steep in parts, but to enjoy the beauty of the falls is worth it. Our 8 and 6 year olds were fine with the hike, had to carry our 3 year old for...More

We visited this park after a visit to Letchworth State Park. The entrance fee to a Buttermilk was $8 and we were able to get into other state parks visited on same day for free. This place was spectacular. The hike up is a little...More

Unfortunately heavy equipment was working on the falls the day we were there and the falls were not overly full of water, but one could get the gist of what it could be. The higher levels were better.

Ithaca Falls is spectacular, especially after some rain. But there is not really a trail for hiking. It's a five-minute walk after you park the car to the base of the waterfall, with no trail to hike. It could be a 15-minute... More

Try the usual travel websites for hotels. There is also Grayhaven Motel which is halfway between Treman Park and Buttermilk Falls. It's a small family run operation. There are also quite a few Airbnb's here. When all the... More

The Rim Trail is about .8 miles, one way. It intersects with other trails. There are gates to close off the icy parts to other trails.
