We did a guided tour and my 7 year old daughter was entertained for literally 2.5 hours in a lab learning about birds. Her attention span is usually in the 15-minute range. It was that good and interesting. It was better than I would have...More

Make sure to bring mosquito spray and cover up. I was eaten alive on the trail system and although I heard a lot of birds, I see more birds off my balcony at home.

Depending how much walking you want to do 1 hour should be enough. They have some art work in the reception building and a nice path around the main pond. Didn't see many birds but a calm location

A beautiful place to visit, nice people, great mission. Find when they have tours, unless you already know about birds yourself! Ok for families, too, although kids need to pace and be as silent as adults..

This place was super cool. Fun to walk around. It seems as though the record and play inside the amphitheater all the bird sounds from the birds that are there throughout the year.

Overrated. The part we enjoyed the most is the small room called "sound lab." It took us a long time to figure out how to get the equipment to play us various bird calls; the signage and instructions are not as good as I would...More

The setting is perfect for birding of almost any level. Pull up a comfy chair inside and watch the feeders (with their networked iPad installed next to the window running Merlin ID software), or cruise the trails around Sapsucker Pond for more diverse bird life...More

Definitely go here to hike the trails and check out the facility, but skip the behind the scenes tour. It was much longer than an hour and fairly boring. Your time is better spent reading the information plaques in the public areas, enjoying the artwork...More
