The State Theatre of Ithaca is another example of an old-fashioned large movie theater repurposed and updated for concerts and various gigs of top-name musicians and entertainers. The stage and acoustics were excellent; the seats not so much (cramped, not enough leg room). Downtown Ithaca is fun to roam around in too. Well worth a trip from miles around to... More

They don't make em like this anymore--def see (or perform!) a show here if you have the chance. Amazing space, decent seats and sound for old place like this. Quite large--1600 seats--so check seating chart and try for orchestra front half if you can. Orchestra sides not bad view lines.

What can I say? So convenient for individuals residing near Ithaca,N.Y. Dan Smalls is bring top name entertainers in and showing movies occasionally and I for one thinks its great with renovation improvements being done to improve this once theater. In January 2017 we saw Get The Led Out and in February Steve Hackett who once played with Genesis. Both... More

Saw a great concert, with great sound and an excellent selection of concessions at less than the ridiculous prices most theaters charge. Staff was friendly and it was a great night. Seats are a little cramped.

Great place for a show. Sound is good, decent prices. Not bad at all. I'd recommend checking it out if you want to see someone here.

Visiting Ithaca and walking around the Commons before dinner, we came across the State Theatre, and Lucinda Williams and Buick 6 performing that evening. We got great seats in the balcony, and enjoyed 3+ hours of their bluesy rockin' music. Caveat: no airconditioning, and it was HOT, but the show was great!

Went there for the first time to see George Thorogood and want to return for other shows! Absolutely the most impressive venue I have ever seen. Takes you back in time when movie entertainment was king. Acoustics are perfect and the decor is amazing. If you go, check out the "coat of arms" display on the ceiling directly above the... More
