Beautiful museum with wonderful bird and animal paintings and sculptures. I was unaware that Roger Tory Peterson was from Jamestown and learned a lot about him as well as other artists whom he inspired. The museum changes exhibits several times a year always keeping it fresh

The Roger Tory Peterson Institute of Natural History displays nature-themed exhibits in a very nice, new-looking building. There is also a trial on the property and a gift shop. What makes this place special is that it contains original artwork by Mr. Peterson, a true genius in the birding field-guide industry. If you are a fan of Mr. Peterson, this... More

Our young nieces (5 & 6) were staying with us for the week. We brought the girls here for an artsy afternoon. They were really into looking at all of the artwork that was being displayed. They also enjoyed using the binoculars in the library to see if they could spy some song birds at the feeders. There is an... More

When we visited there were very limited Peterson prints maybe due to making room for another artist. Could benefit from a short movie. Nature trails are overgrown. Definitely not worth price of admission-$15 adults, $10 for seniors.

Someone mentioned this to me about six months ago and I'd forgotten about it until I was on my way out of town. I can't wait to go back and spend more time on the property. I did manage to tour the galleries and enjoyed some of Peterson's work as well as a special photography exhibit that was on display.

Mostly an educational center but the displays in the galery are normally quite nice. Building is great. Worth a stop and you might even learn something

We visited to see the "Art and the Animal" exhibit, which was fabulous. They have changing exhibits, but they are always of high quality. In addition, you can stroll the grounds and check out the butterfly garden and a pond.

This is a working educational institution. It is the repository of much of, but not all of, Roger's art, photography, and bird collections. The building and grounds are worth a visit by themselves. Rotating exhibits of wildlife art and photography are always well selected and displayed, but not exhaustive. If you go here expecting an education in natural history education,... More

This place is so beautiful. I come here when I need a quiet day to observe and learn about nature, and marvel at the beautiful artwork by Roger Tory Peterson himself. This is a great spot for bird-lovers and nature-lovers alike!

Only one small room in the building was dedicated to Peterson. An informative short move (20 minutes?) about Peterson's life and some color plates on display. Very disappointing, especially when there was an entrance fee.
