We undertook this as a day hike, and definitely had our work cut out for us! Wouldn't recommend as a day hike unless you're in good physical shape. Started from the Adirondack Loj - parked along the road a few hundred metres out to avoid...More

Although the day ended up being fairly rainy, especially at the top where the wind really increased to the point where it was blowing sideways, it was still a fairly long hike for any hikers with out much experience. The uneven, rocky terrain is definitely...More

I am almost 60, and completed Marcy Mt from the Adirondack LOJ this week. Unless older hikers are both fit and agile (and bull-headed), I wouldn't recommend it. Sunrise was at 5:15am, and I signed in and started walking at 5:30am (and finished back at...More

Marcy is a good mountain. If you have yet to do a high peak probably shouldn't start here. Usually a very busy trail so if you get confused its easy to ask someone for help.

Climbing Mt. Marcy is definitely an all day hike.. My husband and I started the ascent on the Von Hoevenberg trail, it was quite beautiful all the way up but for our first time mountain hiking it was quite challenging. We left at 8:30am made...More

Summary of Review: This review ended up being surprisingly long, so I decided to make a summary here. I did the hike to Mt. Marcy’s peak using the Van Hoevenberg trail and it took me 4.5 hours to reach the peak. The hike was VERY...More

It's a long hike but not really too difficult with the exception of the 45 minutes prior to the summit. The view from the summit is oh-so-worth it. In fact, it is easy to get lost in the view and lose track of time! If...More
