Mt. Marcy presents a nice challenge. It's not easy, but not too difficult either. As a 57 yr old and despite having four knee surgeries including one complete ACL, PCL and MCL triad, it did present some difficulties with the majority of the hike being...More

We went up Sunday September 3rd. It was our first high peak we have climbed. Overall we really enjoyed the hike but it was a very cold day. It was in the 50's at the base but at the top it was in the 30's,...More

Hadn't rained for 10 days so the bolders were pretty much dry. There were just a few muddy spots. Perfect weather. We did it pretty quick. 31/2 hrs up, 30 min at the top with a wonderful steward to point things out and 3 hours...More

I hiked this in August 2017. It is about 14 miles RT from the ADK lodge at heart lake and a difficult hike for someone in shape imo. If you are out of shape it would most likely be very strenuous. I packed about 3...More

We undertook this as a day hike, and definitely had our work cut out for us! Wouldn't recommend as a day hike unless you're in good physical shape. Started from the Adirondack Loj - parked along the road a few hundred metres out to avoid...More

Although the day ended up being fairly rainy, especially at the top where the wind really increased to the point where it was blowing sideways, it was still a fairly long hike for any hikers with out much experience. The uneven, rocky terrain is definitely...More

I am almost 60, and completed Marcy Mt from the Adirondack LOJ this week. Unless older hikers are both fit and agile (and bull-headed), I wouldn't recommend it. Sunrise was at 5:15am, and I signed in and started walking at 5:30am (and finished back at...More

Marcy is a good mountain. If you have yet to do a high peak probably shouldn't start here. Usually a very busy trail so if you get confused its easy to ask someone for help.

We started around 830am and it took us about 5 hours to summit, including a 30min break at Indian falls and 10min break at 4500 ft. The climb from Loj to Marcy dam was not too bad, some boulders along the way etc. The path...More
