Ausable Chasm, open since 1870, is the oldest and largest natural attraction in the Adirondacks. More than 10 million visitors have explored the chasm on the well-maintained scenic nature trails. Scenic vistas, bridges and stairs throughout provide stunning views of the chasm and amazing waterfalls. More tours and adventures than any other Adirondack natural attraction including: float tours (via raft), tubing, rappelling, rock climbing, lantern tours and the all new Adventure Trail (via feratta/cable course). Great options for families of all ages as well as for the more adventurous! Cafe, gift shop, campground, cabins & motel on-site.

The chasm itself was beautiful, such an amazing natural feature! But what really made our (mother and two daughters in 20's) trip special were the wonderful guides. We went rock-climbing, rappelling, and also did the adventure trail. Our guides were so patient and informative, and...More

Enjoyed the sights and overall experience. Our family did the adventure trail and premium package. The rope course/adventure trail was lots of fun but the waiting an hour to be in a raft that doesn't really do anything more than the tubes was a bummer.

Nice excursions with young kids! Easy to walk and not too long! Very impressive to see the elephant head walking down the river!

Drove up from Lake Placid to explore the chasm with our kids. We have one over 4' and one under 4', so we were limited in the options we could partake in together. We did the River Walk (new this season), raft float, and the...More

You can take the rim walk for the 3-year old. The stairs walk requires more coordination. We went there when our twins were 6 and took the stairs and bridges walk (lower walk) and they did great. The rim walk is a walk... More

We had changed in the bathroom of the center before and after a bus ride to the start. A waterproof bag w a towel (and a beer) would've been a great addition. Esp since you're in line for a bit before getting on the river.
