Being from the New paltz area originally, I have visited the park many times. The best thing is that I find something new each time I visit. Some of the best finds are not located on any maps or trailmarkers. One example is the group...More

I highly recommend the Gertrude's Nose hike! The trails were very well signed. Be aware that on a beautiful fall day during peak leaf peeping time, the park will be packed and you most likely will have to park at the base parking and hike...More

Blessed with great weather, my family was able to walk around the lake. It was an easy "hike" with nice views. It took us about 1 1/2 hours to enjoy our walk in the woods. There are several spots that would be great for a...More

Beautiful park, but it was so overcrowded we had to leave and lost our $10. There was no place to park, and the porta potties were overflowing and disgusting. There should be a limit to how many people can enter in the fall. They are supposed...More

Took our 8 month granddaughter on the Red Loop trail around the Lake. Fantastic views around every curve/switchback. Moderate walk with a lot to see in an easy hike.

Carriage roads are wide, with gravel beds, so the only real exertion is elevation. My wife and I did the Lake Minnewaska carriage road, with a 32% elevation, and did fine. We also loved the Beacon Hill carriage road (17% elevation), and the the wonderful...More

Minnewaska is hands-down my favorite park in NYS! I hesitate to share its secret, but everyone needs to see it! My recommendation for the perfect day is as follows: Located off Exit 18 from I-87, stop in New Paltz (Subway or a deli) for sandwiches...More

Just go! We were undecided about stopping here on a trip through the Catskills, but so glad we did. The waterfalls are gorgeous. We weren't sure if we could do the hike, as my husband is a stroke survivor, so we were pleasantly surprised to...More

Went here on a Sunday afternoon. Walked about 7 miles total. Great trails of all different levels. Places to swim. We walked from lake Minnewaska to lake awosting. Wanted to start from Sam's point but parking was full.

Lake Minnewaska in the Catskills is a beaut! The lake itself is tranquil and visually pleasing as far as the eye can see. It has a nice little area for swimming or just relaxing by. The carriage trails are double wide, very suitable for biking...More

The park is open, trails might be closed for hiking due to snow, but there is snowshoeing. The trail around the lake can be done in an hour.
