Yates Cellars had a power outage while we were there, but nevertheless, the young woman there still served us wine in the dark. The tasting area is in a portion of a very old home, and it is really well-appointed. We weren’t crazy about any of their wines, but that is solely based upon our particular taste.

There are so many great wineries around Keuka and Seneca Lakes, don't waste your time on this one. All the wines we tried were terrible. I don't think this was an anomoly. The wine hostess commented that not very many local people come to their winery. At first I was very surprised to hear that, but not after we finished... More

Location is really cool. Old colonial house, really unique tasting room. But the wines were not good. Some were acidic, some seemed musty...none that we tried were particularly good. There's plenty of good wineries in the area, I'd skip this one.

Stopped here while leaf peeping. This winery is unique because the tasting room is located in an 1800’s house…one of the parlors. If the wine is produced on site, it wasn’t obvious. A very nice young lady served us five samples-our choice. This cost $3 and there was an option to have 8 samples for $4. As with any wine/beer/cognac/etc.,... More

First of all, the wine was great, and I have thoroughly enjoyed the bottles I've had so far. I also really enjoyed the casual atmosphere (not stuffy or uppity) that allowed me to sit down and try a few different things without feeling any pressure. The guy at the counter was great and gave good information about the wines. He... More

We did find a wine here we liked enough to buy and we did like it a lot when we opened it at home. This is a strange tasting room in a beautiful old house and we did not leave with positive opinion. Not one of the best winery experiences in the Finger Lakes, but as i said we did... More

A group of five of us went there for the first time. It was not 6:00pm yet. We were there maybe 15-20 before that. This is the first place we were refused service. Actually, when I asked if they were still open, the snarky younger guy said "only if you're going to buy a bottle of wine." Listen wise guy,... More

Stopped by on a weeknight evening to try some wines. We enjoy sweeter wines and they had several that fit the bill. Knowledgeable server was able to speak about the process and grapes for each wine that we tried. Enjoyed a few of the wines and brought some home to enjoy in the future.

I have been coming to the Finger Lakes for over 10 years and I rarely find a winery where I don't find something to please my palate. I found the nose of the wines at Yates to be very odd and not appealing. It smelled musty , not clean and crisp like mostly all Finger Lakes whites. My husband and... More

We happened to stop in on a Sunday evening. We saw they were open after 5 on a Sunday and had just gotten to the area for our vacation. The fact that they were open that late on a Sunday was enough for us to stop in. The service was great - we had a fun time. Most of the... More
