This one is huge. I do not even remember what I paid at the toll booth to get in off the parkway, but it was well worth it. A golf course, ball field, play grounds, board walk with pavilion, and not the least, the beach (Long Island Sound). What views to take in, just amazing sights.

Not only does Sunken Meadow have great views and a super Boardwalk, it also has amazing trails to hike! It is easy to find, either from the Northern State, LI Expressway, or Southern State. I like to go in The Fall and The Spring. Great Park for families and for picnics also!! As far as swimming, I prefer the Ocean... More

Located in the North Shore of Long Island, Sunken Meadows State Park is easy to reach by car from any location within New York City, it is however, less accessible via public transportation. It features a mile long stretch of soft sandy beach which is manned by life guards during summer. You can expect shallow, relatively clear blue/green water with... More

I have always loved Sunken Meadow park and beach. We often walk the boards and enjoy the views of water, beach and Connecticut. My favorite times at this park are in the Spring and Fall. It is not crowded then, parking is abundant, and no fees!

The views of LI Sound, the boats, Connecticut across the water, clean sand, plenty of parking. Sunsets are peaceful and perfectly bracketed by the land on both sides of the Sound. Well worth a visit

Do you have small children or prefer beaches without the waves and the strong undertow? Sunken Meadows on the North Shore is your place. It's on the Long Island Sound not the ocean. About 25 minute drive from Southshore towns. Interesting play area and nature area too.

Let's just say that any park on Long Island is bound to be beautiful. And Sunken Meadow is just that. In the dead of summer there will be visitors from different areas of NY which use the buss to get to Long Island. To that I say: "I only wish they'd pick up their trash from the sand and the... Besides having a great boardwalk for exercise they have done great trails. I was so surprised to see a small bridge over a pond that was part of the trails. There also is so much edible things along the way.

The park has a beautiful beach and boardwalk and is a perfect spot to enjoy a day with the kids. Golfing is also available nearby.
