The train staff were wonderful. I recommend the open section of the train... you need the fresh air as the aging train has a bit of a smell. The entire train could use a good cleaning in my opinion. The price was steep for the...More

Loved the whole idea of a trip on a vintage train ride. Our train was from the 1950's and you could imagine all the travelers heading to the slopes! Museum was interesting and the conductors and staff were informative and super friendly. You can feel...More

The train ride itself is nice, but there is not much to see from the train. We were expecting mountain views, but mainly all you see are trees along the tracks. We felt like we wasted time we could have spent driving around to sight-see....More

Not much to see on train. Nothing at the destination on the other end-Saranac. Driving around the area is much better.

Better off taking a scenic drive. The train cars up front were near impossible to see out of. The open car was nice. 45 mins each way and only a 30 min stop at the town.

We took the trip from Utica to Thendara and return, which has an approximately 30 minute layover to reverse the locomotives in the fall and the foliage was amazing. We passed through small towns, fields and woods, and the most beautiful streams, ponds and lakes....More

Inspite of reading the reviews before going there, I thought why not check it out. I was disappointed. The reviews were true to their saying. This ride is not worth at all the money. There were no "Fall season leaves", worth looking at. The entire...More

I think it was around an hour ride from Lake Placid to Saranac and we had maybe hour to hour 1/2 in Saranac for lunch and shopping.
