Not much to do in Montauk on a rainy day. Stopped at the Lighthouse and spent an enjoyable 2 hours. Would have been more enjoyable on a clear day, but overall it was a very interesting trip.

We enjoyed this visit! The view is beautiful and the cafe was nice to for a drink and snacks. Walk to the beach for some great shots of the rocky beach and water.

this is a fantastic historical lighthouse on long islands east end. Views from the top of lighthouse are spectacular, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and the surrounding point. Extremely windy, but picturesque. At busy times, especially weekends, there is a longer wait to get to the...More

Montauk Point Lighthouse has some serious history - having been built during George Washington's presidency. The museum and light house will surprise you - particularly the successful 20th century effort to retard the erosion that was endangering this working light house. Climb to the top....More

We enjoy checking out lighthouses when we travel and this one did not disappoint. $11 a person and you can climb to the top (which can be a little scary) and enjoy a tour of their museum. The museum is very informative. The displays on...More

Definitely a beautiful spot. Great views and museum & shop are good too. Dropped a star for the nasty woman at the parking lot. Still, worth a visit

I believe you can go to the beach early in the morning but not sure a 100 percent as I recall they do have some type of small fence. You definitely can't go to the lighthouse and the museum early it has set hours.
