I drove all the way out to the Hamptons on a visit to Smithtown and they really do turn back to the locals after the Summer. I ate lunch with people who were mostly in construction, farming and fishing. Montauk is super quiet this time...More

Cold rainy windy day on which we took a drive out to Montauk from Northport with our American relative acting as tour guide. Loved the lighthouse - had its Christmas lights on too! Saw seals in the sea hanging with the brave surfers.

Gorgeous setting and views. Interesting museum on site that gives history of the Montauk lighthouse and of Long Island. $11/person for admission.

Very pretty lighthouse but unfortunately all the grounds are closed for the winter. It would have been nice to have been able to walk around the grounds of the lighthouse even if the light house itself was closed for the winter.

This is a beautiful place and a MUST SEE place in Montauk and the Hamptons. Watch out for opening hours, since it is rather restricted. Late afternoon is it usually closed. Great views, and great ocean view. Great for photos.

Went there in winter, nothing was open but we could go for walks to the beach. Although it was in the middle of the day we didn’t see any other people in the area. The paths were beautiful and I am happy we went although...More

for years this place has been my favorite retreat for meditation, quietness, wilderness, tradition, history. Its special and unique atmosphere induces introspective insights, esepecially if followed (as it should be) by a stay (whether short or mid-range duration) in the Fishermen's village of Montauk, an...More

The lighthouse is all decked out for the holidays and well worth a visit. I love lighthouses and this one is truly one of the most magnificent. At this time of year you can no longer climb to the top, but that really doesn’t matter....More

We were so lucky to make the last climb to the lighthouse tower before it closed for the season. The narrow steps up are worth while climbing as the view from the top is so beautiful. I also found the story board with pictures and...More

I did see several dogs leashed on the property. I do believe they can go in the lighthouse though
