Delightful stop
Nov. 2020
We visited in November while personnel were setting up the annual Christmas light displays.
The grounds are not large but are well kept and there are a number of place to walk around.
Not many plants blooming at this time of the year but we expect to come back during the growing season.

Free garden, absolutely worth a stop
Oct. 2020
This place is really nice. It's a small arboretum but a good walk around while taking pictures and such would take anywhere between 30 minutes to an hour. It is the best thing we did the day we were in that area. The flowers and displays are really well done. Worth your time if you are an outdoors type. Front entrance gate to get in might fool you, it looks like it's closed but you just have to pull your car up to the gate, similar to the ones they have in non-public facing businesses. To be honest there is not much to do in this neck of the woods so if you are in the area or are passing through, I highly recommend a stop here. Bathrooms open even during covid times. Free, but leave some money in their donation box on your way out. Nobody is there to pressure you to do so.

Beautiful and Quaint
Jun. 2020
This is a little gem just outside the village of Montgomery. It's small but if you enjoy things like this, you could spend a couple of hours just enjoying the architecture, rock gardens, and man made streams. Great place to take graduation pictures or family pictures. Did I mention it's free? Grab a book and a chair go to the rock garden and enjoy a peaceful afternoon.

Beautiful, but.......
Aug. 2020
The grounds are well-kept. There are a number of floral displays as well as picnic tables. This is probably a great place to visit for those who are local to the area. However, I did not feel it was worth the drive and spent about half an hour here before leaving. Probably would not go back, although I did enjoy seeing the 9/11 Walkway & Garden.

Magical Evening
Dec. 2019
The Orange County Arboretum is perfect for all ages most any time, but the night lights just before the holiday season are ethereal. It is easy to get around the well-lighted paths and they have been cleared so baby strollers and walkers can see all the displays. This is a free activity!
There was a warm welcome from volunteers at the center building, with access to bathrooms, free hot cocoa, and a nifty boutique of volunteer-made decor and hand-knit items for any age - really beautiful things! And reasonable prices.
I was there with friends that included a 7 year old and every generation loved it. We grabbed dinner nearby afterwards and agreed we would do this again next year!

Lovely
May 2018 • Family
My daughter and I visited in May, it was before many of the flowers had bloomed but it was still wonderful! We didn’t see any staff, it looked like it was mostly taken care of by volunteers which I think is really great. We will definitely make a trip back and perhaps bring a picnic with us next time. The only thing I would love to see are more labels on many of the plants (but that’s something I’d like to see more of al pretty much all of the gardens I’ve visited).

Lovely location for a stroll
May 2018 • Family
I have been wanting to come here for some time now and I’m glad I finally did. The grounds although not extensive, they are laid out nicely in a circular fashion . When you drive up into Thomas Bull park past the horse farms the Arboretum is on the left side. The gate is closed at the front but just drive up to it for it to open. The parking is free and can hold a good number of cars. There are no outside flush toilets just porta potties which are located by the parking lot. There may be one in the visitor center but it was closed when I had visited. The Arboretum is broken into a patio like location with raised beds of flowers with plenty of benches and a lovely water display with a statue of Pan. The Japanese gardens area is very small and definitely needs more plants and trees in it. The highlight of the gardens is the wisteria trellis walkway as well as the 9/11 memorial which is very impressive. It’s a globe that sits on water and actually rotates. A visit here is short, it can be seen in 30 minuets or if you want to stroll an hour or two. They do have several spots to provide donations as well as plant sales to support the Arboretum. Additionally they have several children’s events throughout the year such as their fairy festival.
