The observation tower is a THE perfect place to go for photos of the falls from the American side. You get a gorgeous long shot include the American Falls, the tip of Goat Island and Horseshoe Falls. The view looking up and down the river is unforgettable!
There are a lot of people who like to take photos from the tower, so be patient and take turns getting in and out. If you're just enjoying the view you can step back and let people take photos. There is visual opportunity all over the observation deck.

Come here at 9pm for fireworks and light show. Totally worth it and bring your camera for some cool shots.
This place was open and free where we visited it in August and surprisingly not huge crowds, you could get a spot to take pictures easily. The fireworks, and light show work well with the falls. It is a must see when you are close by.

We visited as part of a tour package that included the Maid of the Mist - the views are incredible and I would highly recommend visiting.

Don’t miss spending a little time on the observation tower taking in the views of the falls and the Canadian side. You will have to go here anyway if you plan to go on The Maid of the Mist as you will board the elevator to descend to the boarding area.

Great Architecture wonder to make sure that American side has as good view as Canada side is possible because of this marvellous Tower.

This tower offers great 360 view. You can see horseshoe falls in the distance and American falls very clearly. Also, you can watch river flowing downstream, which is peaceful and calming.

The best vantage point to see all 3 of the falls. Not to mention the beautiful view of the skyline of Canada.

The observation tower will give you a great view of the closest fall, but to really feel the force of the water you'll need to get closer.

You can go up by elevator, but the tower itself has an inside and outside. I remember going down several steps to get on the outside, not quite sure whether there’s a ramp or not. Otherwise there’s less to see from the inside down.

it's not a ticketed attraction so should be open. that being said it wasn't raining when we were there. just check on the parks website, lots of information there. BUT don't buy the Niagara pass. only thing u want to do is Cave of the Wind and Maid of the Mist so save yourself some money
