No access was possible on the day that we visited. "Copy" of the Belem Tower in Lisbon to link to Portuguese heritage. Just a sight on a walk through the town centre to more interesting locations.

When you are interested in how whales were catched and the connection with the usa this is the place to go. Only 3 euro entrance.

An interesting maritime museum located in the Torre de Belem. Modelled on the one with the same name in Lisbon. Good views from the top. Only 200$. Allow 20/30 minutes to visit.

Not a lot to see to be honest although I never bothered venturing upstairs, one of our party who did fell down them with quite a bump. Don't go out of your way for this.

An interesting building containing displays and information about Cape Verde's/ mindelos links with whaling. Info is written in French, english and German so is very tourist friendly. 100esc entry per person. Nice views of the non-working beach and the port from the roof top. Cheap...More
