Took a trip up here in a small bus. A bit of an African massage for the second half of the ride but views so worth it. Small amount of vegetation on top due to cloud capture .
Fascinating.
Stunning view

The best part of the Monte Verde excursion is walking there. The trip there is like a geography and history lesson. There are only rusty antennas on top of the mountain itself, which have been rendered unnecessary by fiber optics. Remember to bring water bottles and your own snacks. There is no shade and a small teahouse is the only place where you can get something in your mouth. The best and most difficult route is to take a minibus to the fork in the Monte Verde road and from there walk up to the old path. If you can find a map where the path is marked! An easier option is to walk up the paved narrow road without a map.

On a clear day, it’s spectacular! There were haze but also windy when we went so we would get some windows of clear views and soon as it clears, it’s covered again. We were lucky as we see a lot of clearing. The drive up is not for the amateur driver or those scared of winding and narrow road with shear drops. Not much to do up there but take photos and admire the views therefore don’t choose to come unless you can see the top of mountain. We paid a taxi company to take us places around the island(day tour) for 70 Euros, we visited Calhau, Hiked to Viana Volcano, drove along Baia Grande, visited Praia das Gatas, Salamansa and Monte Verde, plus you a Miradouro or viewpoint of the city of Mindelo from the top of a hill. We had the best driver and guide called Bruni.

If you want a spectacular view of the island, take the drive (or hike) up to Monte Verde. We drove up this not ‘verde’ at all mountain, but enjoyed the view. Check out the small water from the cloud collection net just few 100m before the top.

Steep and curvy road to get to the top, but so worth it. Either hike or just enjoy the wonderful view. Monte Verde was once very green, but it's still the highest point in Mindelo where you feel you're elsewhere..

Went up during a guided tour of the island. Drove part way, walked part way. Well worth looking at some of the area on foot.

We took a taxi up to the top (our joints are no longer fit for the walk from the aluguer drop point. We waited for a day when the visibility was good.
The views are stunning of São Vicente and neighbouring islands. Well worth the 2000 escudos we paid for the fare fro. Mindelo.

We had a fantastic memorable morning trip by local transport up Monte Verde, the driver was fantastic, he took us to some local beaches and markets in the town all included in the trip , once up the mountain, we took some fantastic photo's of the island, we had a fantastic time from start to finish, what made it more fun, we had an English speaking guide and separate driver,. We joint a party and hire a vehicle that carries up to 10 people, it's much cheaper that way!!!! I'd definite recommend this trip.... Thanks and enjoy if you visit.... If you found this review helpful I'd appreciate your tick, BM

Our host @Georgette provided us a 1/2 tour of the island of Sao Vincente starting with the Alto Fortim a pleasant but graffiti covered decaying old fort up high in Mindelo but then proceeding to Monte Verde a site that is actually green and provides even more spectacular panoramic views of the island. Although it was midday and hot even in November we did see some others hiking or biking up the mountain road. This might be fun earlier in the day but I would not recommend at midday. In any event as I said earlier the panoramic views were spectacular

We were looking for an activity to do in Sao Vicente and ended climbing the monte verde. The hike is easy in a paved road. It is quite nice as it is across plantation but be careful with the weather as we had very low visibility so couldn’t enjoy the view...
