I love this place! The hides are excellent and well maintained. What a pleasure, or rather, what a thrill, to sit there with my scope and binoculars while the incoming tide pushes the birds towards me! And the rest of the park is good for birds and animals too. If you really want to treat yourself, visit the park in... More

What an absolute pleasure this was...yes, you can drive through this park end to end in a couple of hours and see very little...but why?? This park needs an overnight (or more) to fully appreciate it's beauty......the lagoon for most would be the highlight but there are also a few bird hides you can sit at and watch the magic... More

The NP is about 100km from Cape Town and is worth the drive up to see the NP and the surrounding towns. We saw Elands and Ostriches in the fields along the access road. The colours of the waters were amazing. There are a number of bird hides where you can go to see the many birds that inhabit the... More

Driving through the beautiful West Coast National Park was an awesome experience. Specially when you drive all the way to the other side of the ocean where everything seems to be untouched. Kraalbaai is unspoiled......beautiful, breathtaking.. Feels like you on some exotic continent....

Enter the park via the Langebaan Gate at low tide because then you have breathtaking views from the Seeberg Viewpoint right after the entrance. We paid 75 R per Person as foreigners. Locals pay only 50R so it is reasonable. If you are not a hiker it is nice to drive to the viewpoints and have a short look. At... More

The park is situated between the Atlantic Ocean and the Langebaan Lagoon. It is mostly drab and lifeless with the odd animal to be spotted. The birdlife is plentiful though. The swimming spot at the lagoon is very nice and the roads are mostly tar. on occasion the views are fantastic. Motorcycles are allowed in the park.

Sadly, we were here in the summer, long after the spectacular spring blooming season. Even so, it is a lovely spot with a number of places to pull off and enjoy the spectacular views. Take time to go to the lagoon beach where the water is sparkling clear, and the sand like sugar!
