The Cathedral Church Of Candlemas Of The Lord is situated on the cliff of Fira, and it's a landmark of the city. The Cathedral was damaged in the great earthquake in 1956, and it was renovated very quick. The building is very impressive, with a...More

It is worth visiting as it is a beautiful tranquil place with lovely frescoes. It is not possible to photograph all of them. There is a strict dress code so don't try to enter wearing shorts.

There was alot of people around the entrance for some reason. It was very bleak inside and we did not stay long.

I wouldn't do a trip especially to visit, but I was passing and popped in. It's small, typical Greek Orthodox, nice to look at, but nothing amazing. No photos or wearing of shorts allowed!

The children loved lighting a candle in this church, so grand and on the peak of the thira. Try visit before sunset as it is breathtaking from in front of the church.
