This format is misleading...since I haven't visited the Strand in awhile....but I grew up spending summers in Old Forge. I remember when the Strand was derelict....moldy and musty...on its way out. A grand theater in its grave. It's current owner saved it with a true love for cinema. He's spent resources and a lot of love of cinema to make... More

Never expected to find new release movies in this small town. We were staying nearby and happened to notice that they were showing Sully. What a great old style movie theatre. Lots of choices at the snack bar and reasonable prices. We haven't been to the movies in years because of the prices but that is not the case here.... More

We see at least one movie every time we are in the area for our family vacation. Just a beautiful walk back in time. Tons of vintage movie artifacts to look at while on the way to your chosen movie. Definitely worth supporting local business anytime you can.

This is a great movie theater. I believe they have four different movie screens. They almost always try to have at least one kids movie often in 3D. The hall way is filled with many, many antique movie cameras and cameras in general. Fun to look at on your way in or out. The concession stand is good. They have... More

Bravo to the guy who sits in the ticket booth who also happens to be the owner for his passion in restoring this great old iconic theater

Come for a show, but make sure to tour the venue a bit and appreciate the collection of vintage movie paraphernalia. The owner has a love for the silver screen that transcends decades, and this is a truly eclectic little place you will enjoy if you appreciate the arts. Some other awesome features: Low priced tickets and concessions, no up... More

As many know, this is a local gem, filled with fun film memorabilia, operated directly by the owners, and a great place to spend a rainy day or evening away from camp. They have 3-D films and lots matinee prices Most uniquely, they sell and allow Ben and Jerry's ice cream in the theaters.

The Strand is the best movie theater. When you go to theaters in other places it can cost you $30+ for tickets and snacks. But here it was $20 for 2 people. The owners are super friendly and I love the dog that cleans up your popcorn. A must visit in Old Forge!

This is an old movie theatre which has been cherished and lovingly maintained, as much as possible, in period style. The outside of the building looks just as it must have 100 yrs ago, and the original theatre ... even with new seats... looks original, too. This is a beautiful old building and even the rest rooms are painted to... More
