Overview
More
Explore a half-mile long ridge of 60-foot high rock forming crevices, passageways, and caves hidden in an ancient forest! Located just 15 minutes from Chautauqua Lake, Panama Rocks is one of the top-rated attractions in Chautauqua County based on independent reviews on TripAdvisor. The Panama Rocks formations are surrounded by a one mile long hiking trail, but most guests enjoy going off of the main trail to explore! Visitors spend anywhere from one hour to the entire day having fun and exploring the park. Picnic tables are available. The trail is relatively easy to hike (Class 1) and guests of all ages enjoy it, but there are roots, rocks, and uneven ground; it is still a hiking trail! Plan your trip to explore one of the most fun and popular "things to do" in Western New York today!

This collection of house-size rocks, left over from the end of the last ice age, when the great glaciers were receding, is full of cracks and crevasses big enough to walk through (or crawl into) is bordered by a dirt path, about a mile walk...More

Thank you for the review! We’re glad you had fun and explored “off-trail!” That is the best way to enjoy Panama Rocks. =)

I know it is the same path but it feels doggedly each time and season. Hidden caves and overhangs. Do recommend bug spray as a precaution. Not always but seasonal. Absolutely gorgeous.

Beautiful walk through the woods. Definitely recommend hiking boots because of the trails, but so worth the adventure.

Our trail is an easy to moderate hiking trail. There are short stretches with a 20-30% grade and embedded roots and rocks mean that it is not wheelchair/stroller accessible. If a person can walk on uneven ground for a mile... More

Pets are not allowed. Due to tight crevices and areas that have drop-offs, it’s a safety concern. They are pet-lovers and want our fur-babies safe!

There is a rest room available, some area for a blanket picnic and I think a swing set for the kids. It is open from the middle of May to middle of October.
