The park is a great escape from the hassle of NYC and provides you with a great escape to picnic and just enjoy the beauty of nature. I am not aware of any other services available since we go there for our picnic.

We used to have our company picnics here and it was great. Lots of trails and picnic tables. It's too bad that the pool has been closed, as there is not any close by.

I was here for a college graduation cookout this time....You have to take your garbage out with you...Some parts of the park are very beautiful..I don't think you can bring alcoholic beverages to the park unless you are at one of the pavilions and you have a permit for alcohol...(I think)..The pavilion rental prices are very reasonable..Toilets at the pavilions... Free entry to the park. Upper area has Pavillions where you can rent for the day including shelter with grills, picnic tables and restrooms and running water. Lower area has a playground for kids and sprinkler, grills, basketball courts and baseball field. Has a 18 hole golf course with Clubhouse including public restaurant. Has a pool but has been abandoned... More

I know the course got hammered this year with a bad winter but... 17 out of 18 greens were in absolutely horrible shape. Alot of bare spots. My ball did not roll on these greens, it bounced and jumped from pothole to pothole. The topper is you still have to pay full price. Boo NYS parks department

Decent state park for a hike. Also a golf course, driving range and restaurant but I have personally never used.

I'm trying to visit all of the state parks in Ulster/Duchess/Columbia counties this year, so yesterday James Baird got checked off the list. Signage was negligible- none leading up to the park, and none once we got inside telling us where the hiking trails were. I didn't see any information kiosks, no trail maps to take. Did I miss something?... More

Baird State Park is in the Town of LaGrange in Dutchess County NY. I grew up in LaGrange in the 1950's and early 1960s. Baird Park was a real treat. The park has an 18 hole golf course. Years ago there was a large public swimming pool, tennis courts and roller skating. Also a Ball Field and Pavilions in the... More

I recently returned to this golf course. It had been a couple of years since I was last here and things have changed. Mostly the decline of this venue can be linked to fiscal cutbacks. A once respectable tract has declined to nearly unacceptable. The greens are barely usable and appear to have stricken with some sort of fungus. The... More
