this town is beautiful from a far.... just don't try to live here. it's like high school at every turn. I mostly keep to myself, but am looked down upon bc I rent. I had neighbors complain to my landlord bc I was playing music (not loud) outside while I was going front yard work. and the same day same neighbors complained about me playing my hand drum... again I'm pretty sure noise ordnance dont start til 9 or 10pm... it was 2p. I was also complained about because I put a tapestry up on my porch to block the sun... I forgot to take it down and low and behold another neighbor right across the street complained about that. These people have nothing better to do then complain. Rather then deal with their own problems they come looking for others. one thing though please obey the 15. mile an hour speed limit. it's a beach town with tons of pedestrians and lil kids on bikes who dont pay attention. the reason its 15 mph is bc 2 people were hit by cars one older and one young kid.

Stunning beach, perfect for long walks. Went there a couple of days after Christmas, it was such a beautiful day for a nice walk on the beach!

The only reason I gave this 2 stars instead of 1 is because the bathroom and concession stand is close. So is the parking lot. Its an easy walk on the sand up to the shoreline. However, the beach is just gross. Dirty, smelly, full of seaweed and sand flies. I still have a mark from a bite from 3 weeks ago. And to charge non Hempstead residents $50?!! Seriously people, where do you think we live?! Luckily I pay $10. But for free I go to Rockaway with clean sand and nicer water.

I've have been going here every year as a resident of Mineola and paying the resident fee. This year they started scanning licenses and I apparently don't live in the right area of Mineola to be considered a resident. The non resident fee is $50. This is truly insane and completely not fair. They built a new small boardwalk and a lovely memorial yet the bathrooms are disgusting and antiquated. Seems like their priorities are a bit off here. I will need to find a new beach to go to now as it's not worth the $50 at all
