We've been doing this for at least 10 years now. In order to avoid traffic on the Northern Pkwy, the bridge, and to keep our sanity, we take the ferry. We live only a few minutes from the ferry, so it's a no-brainer for us. Except for the cost!! Getting from your car to the main indoor seating area can... More

Driving from Boston to Delaware, I decided to try the ferry and visit my brother in Long Island. I made my reservation online a few days prior, but they never sent me the email of my ticket. I called them and they gave me my booking number- when I drove up to the attendant, they had my name, so it... More

We took the Bridgeport - Port Jefferson Ferry from Connecticut to Long Island after dropping our college student off. It saved us time, wear & tear along with avoiding bridge tolls. Getting on at Bridgeport was pretty easy. We just followed the signs. The neighborhood isn't very interesting, and since we arrived over an hour early, we luckily could get... More

If you're concerned about either getting through long Island or City traffic or you're tired, the Ferry'S a great option. Unfortunately it's expensive.

This is not an attraction, but a way to cross the sound and skip 1-2 hours of driving. The seating after the upgrade a couple of years ago is quite nice, Staff seems quite stable which is a good sign. I and family, friends have used this many tie a year for a long time and is pleased by it.

Ah, the ferry....the new reservation system is streamlined and easier to use, the boats are the same as always, which means slow and dependable, and clean...restrooms antique but adequate for a beach facility...distinctly not modern....they have installed tv's which serve to entertain maybe six people and annoy the rest...there are never quite enough tables unless you are traveling off season,... Nothing fancy about the boat or the ride. Better than driving around the island. Nice view and in the summer its nice to sit up top and enjoy the ride

As a senior the round trip rate of $20 is reasonable. My husband and I travel 3/4 times per yr because our son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren live in Long Island. Free parking and shuttle at the Bridgeport dock. Both docks are clean and employees polite. On the Ferry everything is neat, clean and the ride is enjoyable. I'm going again... More

We have used the ferry service for years by driving on and continuing on a road trip. However our son had a playoff game in Bridgeport so a bunch of us walked on the ferry caught a cab to watch the game and walked back on to go home.
