Nice to place to hike

Take a nice stroll through the woods or along the shore. Its not as big as many other places, but cool to see the castle, etc. $10 fee to enter per car.

The views are spectacular and not too many know of this place hence my hesitance to review it. I want to keep it somewhat of a secret spot. This is not a place full of bells and whistles. You can't even ride your bike here. What you do get are views of Long Island Sound and actual castles. Have a... More

The park is owned by Nassau County but operated by a non-profit. Over the last few years they have been grooming the grounds more and more and have completely moved away from the concept of keeping the grounds natural, I.e. a preserve. I find that aggravating as there are so few spaces left that reflect the natural beauty of the... More

Sands Points Conservancy is a fantastic piece of history with a castle and the Hempstead House which has a series of events attached to it from Haunted Halloween mansion to fabulous talent with dinner theatre, musical draws and top Broadway talent, the conservancy does an outstanding job of drawing the public to this jewel of the Gold Coast. The grounds... More

Lots of interesting history here -- Lindbergh's station wagon still in the garage, a lady divorced her husband for Buffalo Bill, two big mansions, beautiful sandy beaches, inspiration for "The Great Gatsby". Well worth wandering if you are in the neighborhood.

One of my favorite places to visit in Long Island. The preserve is beautiful located right on the sound with crystal clear water. Not only is the landscape stunning but of course the castles are glorious as well with a fountain and garden to match. There are area with benches and tables to enjoy lunch or breakfast and a little... More

Not able to take advantage of the tours as it was Columbus Day. However for only $10 a car you can drive/walk in the gardens and view the buildings. Well worth the entrance fee, just to do this.
