It was a struggle this past summer fun to high water. The state did a good job helping to bring back the beach and preserve the dunns. I like it best when it's closed an I can take my dogs

This beautiful upstate treasure has been destroyed by the high water in Lake Ontario. It's unfortunate that the state has had to transport stones, not rip rap, to impede the water damage. Upstate residents have enjoyed this beach for as long as I can remember....More

If you're not from the area, of even if you are, this is one of the best places to watch the sun set over Lake Ontario. If you're a beach goer, the beach is small but clean, it's very amenable for small children, and the...More

Great place to watch the sunset . Water is very shallow which we didn't mind. Had a cute little store with beach items in case you forgot something. Enjoyed our time here.

This beach is probably the kind of place that locals think is the nuts! For them, it may be. But, if you have ever been to Eagle or Manchebo Beaches on Aruba, Trunk Bay in St. John's, Ka'anapoli on Maui or even the more commercial...More

Sandy Island Beach is really a hidden gem. It's a nice place to head on a beautiful, sunny day. The beach has nice, sandy beaches, wonderful views of Lake Ontario and clean facilities. Be sure to stay for a beautiful sunset too!

It was cold when we went but beautiful. The dog friendly policy is what made us stop. It was a wonderful walk.

In the off season there will be signs telling you not to swim but there's no enforcement (that I'm aware of) and the signs are routinely ignored.
