Within this park there is deep forest, lakes, streams, hills and deep valleys, a beautiful golf course, picnic pavilions, sledding hills and ski trails, hiking trails, arboretums of trees and flowers, and a major beach on a Great Lake, all wrapped around each other!

There is a great trail which runs from end to end from Culver Road to the end of the park along the lake and beyond. I did a 5.5mi round trip. Other shorter walks around the ponds.

Planted by George Eastman, magnolias, azaleas, beautiful lakes and pine forests. Can have a picnic, you can see a herd of deer in the distance. It was magical to see all a bloom.

It is best approached from Culver Road, onto Sweet Fern Road, a dramatic entry with an allee of mature Red oaks and flowering trees. Notable plantings include a grove of cinnamon-barked maples and an extraordinary collection of exotic conifers... More

We had a great time hiking one of the trails and spending time at beach! Nearby is an amusement park we didn't visit and good food options.

Walking trails, beaches, swimming and winter fun includes sledding, snowshoeing, skiing and snowboarding. Fall is the best way to see it in all it's glory.

I grew up in Rochester and remember Durand beach to have been very rocky and poorly maintained. I haven't been to the beach in over a decade, and now it is sandy, the water is clear, and there is no litter problem at all to speak of. It is August and I'm in Roch to visit from Charleston, SC and... More
