The Eastman School of Music’s premier orchestra, the Eastman Philharmonia, was joined by four-time Grammy Award-winning soprano and Eastman alumna/Rochester native Renée Fleming with her sumptuous voice, artistry, and compelling stage presence. In 2013, Fleming was awarded the National Medal of Arts by President Obama, the highest honor for an individual artist. She continues to grace stages around the globe.... More

A beautifully-renovated historic concert hall, Kodak Hall at Eastman Theatre is a Rochester landmark. Home to the ensembles of the Eastman School of Music and the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, the Eastman Theatre has hosted some of the world's best musicians. The acoustics of the hall leave something to be desired (though recently improved, apparently) but the hall is beautifully decorated,... More

We have seen many performances at the Eastman Theatre, mostly RPO performances. The theater is a wonderful setting with terrific acoustics, lovely stonework, and decoration. The chairs are comfortable and not too tightly crowded, there truly is not a bad seat in the house. There is a performance for everyone, the holiday season in particular has Nutcracker each year and... More

oh wow, this is an amazing theater, filled with so much history, the acoustic is one of a kind. I love it here because this theater nourishes students form Eastmast school of music as professionals musicians, opera singers and performers.

My wife and I enjoyed a recent "Cotton Club" performance by the RPO so much that in standing for an ovation, my phone slipped under my seat and I left not knowing I'd lost it. When I called, ticket office representatives authorized others to look for it and when not successful, gave me permission to enter the theater to search... More

This is a terrible place for a rock/pop concert. The ushers have sticks up their butts. No photography, no video recording, no phones out to see who the obscure opening act is, no talking. Probably no standing or dancing around or singing along. Probably a great place for a play, musical, or opera, but seriously don't come here for popular... More

The Eastman Theater, given to the University of Rochester by George Eastman, is a true highlight of anyone's trip to Rochester. Recently renovated with greatly improved acoustics, the Eastman theater hosts the RPO, traveling artists, the Rochester Jazz festival and so much more. It is magnificent architecturally exciting, though much changed since its days as a silent movie theatre in... More

The Eastman theater is a beautiful venue with updated seating and sound to maximize the enjoyment of any event that takes place there. My wife and I went to a Holiday concert there in December by the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra Concert. It was an enchanting evening in a beautiful and elegant venue. If you get the chance to see an... More

This is a wonderful place to hear a concert. There are several halls within the theatre. It is one of Rochester's many assets!

This hall was an acoustic disaster until its recent renovation. George Eastman did not like bright sound, and had the walls coated with sound deadening material. The sound improved markedly with the first two stages of renovation. Christopher Seaman described it as taking all the coats out of a crowded closet. There is still much to be done, and there...
