This is a small and very manageable museum. Don't let the location or size turn you off though. The curators are known to bring in first rate artwork from all over the world and to display them in a professional and interesting way. Captions provide...More

Just as much thought went into the outside of the museum as the inside. There is so much to do and see. Beautifully kept grounds with hiking paths, gardens, sculptures and flora. It was a great way to spend a lovely Spring day.

Of course it's not the Met, but for a museum in the suburbs, it is pretty good. Being in the heart of an affluent collecting community doesn't hurt either. The museum displays art close up in a former estate mansion. They take art seriously and...More

Great place to spend a few hours to explore not only the museum and exhibition and many sculptures scattered around, but the beautiful trails.

First disclaimer: I visited in February, so I am not really reviewing the sculputure garden/outdoor areas. Second disclaimer: I am more of a painting affectionado than a photography buff. That said, I was really looking forward to seeing the Ansel Adams exhibit, and also to...More

Ansel Adams is the featured artist, but there is so many others: Cartier Bresson, Stieglietz, Stiechen, Dorothea Lange, Ruth Barnard, Imogen Cunningham, Horst, Maplethorpe, Roy Striker and many more. Nicely displayed in a peaceful setting. Not to be missed.

I suspect kids would not appreciate most or all of the museum exhibits. The park surrounding the museum has some nice large outdoor sculptures and people do picnic on the lawn at times, but this, too, is not much for kids.

There is an admission fee but as Mary said ask your library if they have passes. I think it is usually around $10 for the museum, no parking fee....at least on the weekend.
