I finally was able to check out this museum after meaning to for years. I was a little disappointed that there wasn’t more on the history or Staten Island itself. It’s a smaller museum but worth checking out when you visit Snug Harbor

If you’re taking the free Staten Island Ferry this Museum is definitely worth a visit. You can take the S40 bus from St George Ferry Terminal straight there. I visited on a Thursday afternoon and had the place to myself which was very welcome amongst...More

We went to the museum during a Sunday. At first, we weren't sure if we were entering the right building because there was scaffolding around the entrance. The staff there said that that was a common problem, but they were doing some improvements because the...More

Eclectic collection in architecturally significant building on historic site. I like the gallery on the economic development of the island. It is hard to believe the primary terrestrial activity was dairy farming. Nor can I imagine mastodons roaming on Staten Island

Small museum with some interesting exhibits on the natural, cultural, and maritime history of the island. There is a particular interest in the history of the Staten Island Ferry, probably the most recognized attraction attached to the island. An hour is enough to see all...More

We took the ferry from Battery Park, and spent 2 hours visiting this small and quirky museum of Staten Island. The best part of the trip was the enthusiastic desk clerk who had a good grasp of information on all the exhibits! It was a...More

On our Snug Harbor we took in this museum. Besides special exhibits, there's a permanent Mastadon Exhibit. We were short on time so didn't have time to see the whole museum. Worth a stop if you're in Snug Harbor.
