during the american revolution, ben franklin and his team did shanghai the british while meeting here. period rooms and artifacts are in tact. biggest reservations, though, is that is located a good 75 minute bus or train ride from si ferry, and hours are erratic.....More

The Conference House dates back to the Revolutionary War. It is one of the oldest buildings on Staten Island. It has a rich history and ice grounds. it is at the extreme southern tip of Staten Island.

Beautiful grounds at the absolute southernmost point of New York State. Unfortunately, the waterfront gazebo and observation deck was destroyed by Hurricane Sandy. The views are still magnificent. You can see the Great Beds Lighthouse from here and see ships entering the Arthur Kill.

I went by Staten Island Railway to Tottenville for a tour of this historic place. This is where the Revolutionary Peace Conference of 1776 took place between John Adams, Benjamin Franklin and other historical figures..
