The zoo here is nice to have close by. I have been to better zoos in several cities. But zoos are difficult to maintain. So while not the greatest, we are fortunate to have this one. It certainly worth an annual visit.

I generally shy away from zoos. This one was fairly animal friendly though some of them were isolated and looked bored. Probably wouldn't go back. Prefer to see exotic animals in their natural habitats which for most of these is not upstate NY.

It has been a couple of years since our last visit, and you can see the improvements. The squid display, the elephant exhibit, and the primates. Have always enjoyed this zoo, and during the winter, it was nice to see the wolves having fun, and the penguins are always fun to watch. During January and February admission is half price... More

This is one of the nest small zoos in the Country. I have been to over 50 zoos and this one is A1. Very relaxing.

Like many zoos built before the 1930's, Rosamond Gifford shows its history. That line between historical and modern needs to be walked carefully displaying age without it detracting from the animal's well being physically or mentally. Something Rosamond Gifford is visibly trying to remedy but they have quite a bit of work ahead of them. 1/3 of their indoor exhibits... More

The Syracuse Zoo has a lot of different animals on display - some indoor (open year round) and lots of outdoor exhibits. The zoo has lots of events throughout the year - such as "Squishing of the Squash" which happens right after Halloween (animals are given pumpkins filled with treats.)
