Really nice falls and walking trails here and at no charge . This set of falls is open to the general public and they have rest rooms on the premises . I found the place easy to navigate to get close to the falls , even though they had an area right off the parking lot if you chose not... More

We visit the Falls Overlook whenever in the Ithaca area. It is a must stop in every season. With our drought this 2016 summer, the falls dried up, but for a trickle, yet it was still a beautiful sight to see the rock formation that is not visible when water is trailing over in a thunderous speed. The new Visitor... More

Great long or short family hike, dogs included! You can hike right up to the falls for an awesome family photo. Going in the Fall was color in full bloom!

About 25 miles north of Ithaca on the western side of Lake Cayuga. Beautiful waterfall that is higher than Niagara Falls and framed in beautiful fall colors. There is a walking trail that goes all the way down to the base, but we preferred to observe from the overlook that was about 50' from the parking lot. Beautiful view and... More

Higher than Niagra, EZ trails bring you up close. But if it's been dry for a prolonged time, the drama lessens. Go after a good rain and spectacular. If you hit the sunny day after (which we did not), would be a jackpot.

There are many ways to see these falls (by car via the upper Falls Overlook and trailheads above and below the falls). We did all 3. But the lower trail (which you can get to off of Rt. 89) is incredible. The hike to the water fall base is ~ 8/10 of a mile one way (pretty flat walk) and... More

The falls likely would've been more impressive if there had not been such a dry season. The falls were at the end of the gorge trail, but not a real destination as they were very weak. Most of the creek bed was also dry. If you want to do the Gorge Trail, accept it as a nice, flat walk without... More

Taughannock Falls plunges 215 feet past rocky cliffs that tower nearly 400 feet above the gorge. Gorge and rim trails offer spectacular views from above the falls and from below at the end of the gorge trail. Campsites and cabins overlook Cayuga Lake, with marina, boat launch and beach nearby. A multi-use trail--hiking, cross-country skiing--winds past sledding slopes and natural... More

Recently took a leisurely drive to this state park (about 45 minutes from Geneva, NY). Took in the beautiful autumn leaf colors. Also a lot of opportunities to pause along the way to visit some local vineyards. Our purpose for the visit was to see the Taughannock Falls (higher water fall height than Niagara Falls). There is a parking lot... More
