Excellent park! Our site was very large. Great nature trails. The one is short enough to take smaller children on. Boat launch is a great little fishing spot or place for your dog to cool off. The second beach is much less busy than the main beach but the water is very very shallow no matter how far out you go. The main beach is HUGE! But does have a drop off. My only complaint was the cleanliness of the comfort station. Seemed to be cleaned once in the morning then not again until the next morning and was quite filthy by night time. All in all a great stay!!

We use this park every year for our end of year Guide camp. The group sites are generous, flat and have both sun and shade. Nice nearby hiking trails.
I've also trailer camped here with friends and used the beach as a day visitor. The facilities are generally clean, the check in is easy and the staff are friendly.

It was our first camping trip and we choose that park.
Once we arrived we ran on to some trouble our RV got disconnected from the hitch.
Tyler the mechanic fellow and Amber the warden came to our help.
Amazing team 🙏🏻
Once again Thank You to Taylor and Amber for making our first camping a memorable camping weekend 🥰
As for the park , it’s was amazing, we had a site 281 near the beach, so beautiful.
Loves canoeing was amazing, our dogs love the river .
The bathrooms and showers were very clean and in great order .
We will definitely come back 🥰

We vacationed here 29-31 Aug 2017. 2ad + 2 Chn in a tent. We had site 283. We had privacy from the road and neighbors. Our last morning 6 deer walked through the site. When looking on the campsite map the site is = distance to both water taps and outhouse - 110 steps. And a 2min walk to the comfort station. The site is in a reverse "L" shape with the foot of the L /cove being under a canopy of trees. The night it rained, it sounded like a lot more than it was. This ground patch is uneven and water pooled a bit under the tent but didn't cause problems. The had a nice degree of sunshine all day. The cove where the tent was didn't get much sun and we argued where to set the tent... I wanted the sun... it went under trees.
Check in was smooth. They give you a camp newspaper and Fri-Sun there are nature activities for kids. The store sold wood (damp smoked a lot burning) and treats and rents canoes/lifejackets.
Distances... The camp ground is much small than it appears. Our site to the Day Use area was a 10-15 min walk with 2 kids. To the store along the road about 20 mins. To the store using a Cut-through off site 300 or site 223 only 10 mins to the bridge. Carp Trail took us half an hour. Using the cut through to day use off site #254 about 15 mins.
Site impressions / privacy. Sites 275, 276, 278, 280 and 281 all have water views and spectacular sunsets. Sites 280 & 281 are wide open at the road so little privacy. 281 is perfect for parents of kids who love beach/water. Sites 288 & 289 have the Carp River behind them so the sound of water. Site 288 has a babbling brook sound all the time as there is a rock formation in the river that the water cascades over. Easy to see why these are premium sites however, sites 288 & 289 are wide open to the road so everyone can see in. There are trees you could hang a clothes line from and drape towels etc.; and park the car parallel to the road to block of the site. There is the traffic to the tap and out houses too.
DO NOT, unless you are unbelievably desperate... book sites 225 or 242. They are on either side of the smelliest out house ever, and I've camped since 1976. That and the "path" to the outhouse is ever so slightly set behind some trees on the site. I could just imagine the number of people walking through the site not even realizing there is a path.
Speaking of paths close to sites... Taking the path to/from the day use/boat launch from/ near Site #254 is effectively walking through their site, to one side. We didn't use the path till the site was vacant.
The comfort station was clean enough. And I've realized I am of a age/mentality that I will walk there to avoid the outhouses.
The day use area was quite and clean. There is a playground / jungle gym/ teeter totters. The beach is wide and flat. The water was warm 74 F, and had a roped area for kids. There are BBQs for use and a comfort station.
The diagram of the camp ground on the Provincial Park website is a bit off. The beach in Two Rivers is BESIDE site #281, and across the road from 255 265 266, not in front of 281 and 280.
Some of the site reviews on the Provincial Park web site indicate Poison Ivy on some sites and not others, it's everywhere. While my kid didn't touch any she did "pet" a chipmunk and we believe that's how she got it on her hands. They run through it and the oil gets on their fur.
Chipmunks are your welcoming party. They know where the food is and aren't shy at ALL!
We had a great stay. The first night we had Raccoons - checking out the new campers- clamoring over everything waking me up. Then it was so quiet, I couldn't fall back asleep.
The next night before the rain started the water / hydro plant was releasing water so it sounded like waves... then the rain... ahh bliss! We remembered how much we love the smell of campfire and roasting marshmallow and waiting a half hour to make coffee.
The campground is close enough to civilization that you can get a Cell signal if so inclined. We also ordered pizza from Harbour Pizza who deliver to the campground. Sounds sad eh? Well, we went to Owl Rafting and they fed us burgers for lunch and that's what we had planned for dinner... so we weren't eating burgers 2xs :) in a day.
Hope this answered your questions.

A below average weekender's park for the local Ottawa crowd. Wash-rooms are the worst I've seen at a provincial park. They desperately need to be torn down and replaced. Sites are tight but some have good privacy levels. The day I dropped by, there were two Ottawa police cars at the office with the park Ranger. This tells me that the following night there must have been a drunken party somewhere in the park as Fitzroy has had the reputation of a "party park" for the younger set that thinks this is a great place to lose some brain cells. There may have been many family type campers here, but the rabble rousers must have come in late and disturbed many people for the police to come in.
I have a hard time to recommend this park due to the Police presence and the crappy wash-room facilities. 4/10 rating.

We went with our camper and stayed at Pinegrove section a couple of weeks ago. I believe the lot was #56 and we liked it. Not too far from the comfort station. This campground is well maintained and I saw patrol vehicles quiet often. Staff were nice and courteous. In general, I find most Ontario Parks staff are nice. Some are more pleasant than others.
There are sections that are more suitable for multi-families to be close to each other. They are not too private but I believe some would prefer that if they want to mingle often.
There are two beaches. The smaller one has the backdrop of the power plant so I prefer the big beach. It spreads out and is beautiful. There are picnic tables and washrooms nearby. It's also popular for day-trippers to spend the day with family and friends. So if you prefer a quieter location maybe the smaller beach is for you. But again, you won't have the view and nice water the big beach offers.
Bathroom and showers are clean, like most Ontario Parks are. There is a cute shop that offers a variety of items, which is not always seen in some other provincial campgrounds.
We will definitely go back!

This park is beautiful with plenty of activities available for you to enjoy nature. Trail to hike, small beah, swimming area, tent and rv camping. Canoe and kayak are available to rent and firewood for purchase. A small camp store is available as well as ice cream and treats. The showers and washrooms are newly constructed and cleaned daily. The showers are refreshing and temperature controlled. There are some areas of the park that are still serviced by composting outhouse style toilets. This parks convenient location makes it an easy travel from Ottawa. We camped out and then had our friends come out and join us for games and barbecue during the day. The staff is friendly and knowledge. The distance from towns and cities provides a quiet setting where you can truly enjoy the sounds of nature. From listening to the bull frogs on our hike to a deer visiting our campsite to see what we we're doing, or the sound of the water rushing over the rocks behind our campsite. Potable water is available but not at your individual campsite. Be prepared to carry water back to your site. No sewage hookup, only 1 dump sire with 2 dump and fill locations are located at the entrance to camp. Be sure to fill your fresh water prior to parking your camper. For the sites that have electricity available, the shore power stand is often 12 to 15 (40 to 50 feet) meters from where you park your camper. Plan accordingly and pack the proper sized extension cord for the amperage of your camper. Lastly, this is an Ontario park, the mosquitos are very aggressive. We suggest using a repellant will a minimum of 25% deet applied anytime you are outdoors. Make your reservation early, sites fill up fast. Recommend you book your sites before the end of April for the year. We had a great relaxing visit and we're discussing another visit prior to even packing up to leave from this trip.

Went there with my 4 year old. She had a blast at site 4 near the river. We saw big frogs, snails, small fishes, walked on rocks and shallow water. The sites have privacy, big spaces. The only thing i have a love and hate is the noise but my 4 year old contributed to it too since she is bit loud. Seems like this park is not so strict on sound volume compared to other parks. Washrooms and showers are clean. Dogs are allowed so some barking. We have been going back almost every weekend because of the camp sites scenery and i love the privacy. Even those ones marked as poor privacy is not so bad.

Ii is perfect escape from city life for a weekend. Park was clean and have a nice washroom and shower.
Our camp side was just beside Carp River which was a bonus. The river is clean and shallow. We also drove to Ottawa River which took 1 minute driving. The beach and area were clean and pleasant. The swimming in Ottawa River however was not good at all. Water was not so clean and it only small swimming area which looks like public pool.
I would recommend this park as a good camping side.

How is cell service/wifi in this park? Can you connect to data to "work from home" while camping?

I see that some people have commented that they got swimmers itch, is this a common problem at Fitzroy?
Written June 6, 2016
Hello,
Swimmer's itch is possible in waters with warm temperatures, shallow marshy areas and where migratory birds frequent.
Humans are not an appropriate host for the parasite : meaning they will not survive on a human -they cause an allergic reaction known as "swimmers itch". Secondary skin infections can occur from scratching.
Gary is correct! The parasite only burrows in to skin when the water has evaporated. Showering or towel drying off really well immediately after swimming significantly reduces the risk of contracting swimmers itch.
Sincerely,
Ontario Parks

where can we get a map of the camp sites??? i would like to see where the lots are located before placing a reservation!! thnx you
Written August 16, 2015
Hi Amelie,
No problem -- just visit the Ontario Parks website. In the top left corner, there's a dropdown that allows you to select a park. Pick "Fitzroy" and then select the "Maps" tab. Both the "Campground Map" and "Park Overview Map" should give you a good idea of where each site is located.
Enjoy your trip!
