Nana's First Time on a Horse
May 2021
What a Great Place for Children of All ages, & Adults!. My first time on a horse, I was nervous. Those fears were quickly eased by the Staff, My Lesson was awesome and my Trail Ride gave me a greater respect for Riders and these Gentle Giants. These Animals have been Rescued by this very Loving Family, and are so well taken care of. I will return. Thanks Helen !

Wonderful Winter Ride on Warm February Afternoon!
Feb. 2017 • Family
Upon our arrival, we were greeted by several of the farm staff along with many of the farms resident animals. While our guides, yes there were two for four riders, brushed and saddled up the horses - we became acquainted with chickens, roosters, dogs, and many of the horses on the farm. The guides happily explained anything we asked about. Once my 13 year old was up in the saddle, she became frightened and nervous. She wanted to back out, but I told her no. One of the guides, Craig, did his best to calm her nerves. We rode for about an hour through the snow covered woods. Although this was very pretty, there was mud beneath that made it a tad difficult to guide us through. But the experienced guides did a wonderful job and made sure that riders and horses were all well taken care of. At the end of our journey, Craig asked my daughter if she would come again and she said yes. We will be visiting again once the weather breaks and the mud dries up. This is a working rescue horse farm and the staff takes great care of all animals in there care. All proceeds go to taking care of the animals who have been rescued from negligent and/or otherwise difficult situations. Please take a ride here...you'll have a good time and your patronage will be much appreciated.

Great ride!
Nov. 2016 • Couples
From the minute we arrived we were treated so nice. They told us it would be a few minutes and they never forgot us. Other riders were ahead of us but they got us going in a timely manner and everything was explained and handled safely. We were given instruction and made to feel comfortable before heading out on the trail. The trail ride was well handled and we had a very nice ride. I would certainly say even if you are inexperienced, don't hesitate to ride at My Saddle Book Farm. Good job.

Fun autumn activity for the uninitiated
Nov. 2016 • Couples
My Saddle Brook Farm provides a lovely introduction to trailriding. If you have never ridden a horse, or if you once or twice a long time ago, then this is the kind of activity for you. Helen and her staff are very affable and helpful. The horses - all rescues - look fairly healthy and well-taken care of. They all have personalities, and the staff will know which horse to pair with which rider based on weight and experience. Before the trail ride they take you into a round pen where the provide a short lesson. This also gives you an opportunity to get to know your horse. This takes about 10-15 minutes.

The ride itself takes place on the periphery of the farm. You aren't going to be Lewis and Clark blazing a trail to the West Coast. You will see neighboring homes and you won't be far from the barn. With all that said it's still a nice path. They will take you through it twice which took about 30 minutes.

In sum, if you are an experienced equine specialist then you may find this experience a little underwhelming. Likewise, if you are looking to go off into the mountains on an expedition then this isn't the place for you. If you want a fun, family friendly experience for an hour or two while helping someone take care of some amazing animals, by all means come and enjoy!

NOTE: The farm management is very open and direct about arriving 30 minutes before a scheduled ride. We arrived 30 minutes in advance of our scheduled time slot. When it was 5 minutes before our scheduled time, we were about to hit the trail, when all of a sudden a group of 4 arrived that was in our group. Folks, it takes time to prep the horses and get someone on one let alone a party of four. Their late arrival (and selfie taking) delayed our start by nearly 30 minutes. Do everyone a favor and be punctual. It helps them and the rest of the guest provide the best experience for all.

Fun for the whole family
Nov. 2016 • Family
My kids are age 9 & 11 and they had a great time, was impressed to see some 2-3y/os on a horse too. It was the first time riding for all of us and I was grateful for their patience in explaining everything, the trial run around the small ranch before going on the trail and for their knowledge of the different horses' personalities. There were other animals on the farm, some cats and lots of interesting looking hens and roosters. Every one of these animals were unique. It was good to see the owners' daughters were helping out with this family business too. Overall, a great experience and I am so glad I didn't fall off the horse, because I would be in a puddle of manure as the horses pooped whenever along the trail!

Just OK

While the place was great overall I think they should expand their "trail" ride a little. It was really just a stroll through a few trails around the barn, I paid for an hour long (bought on Groupon) trail ride for 4 people and I'm pretty sure we were on the horses for less an 30 minutes overall. It was a little confusing when we got there, they were very busy with the party ahead of us so we just stood around until someone acknowledged us, we were then grouped up with the other party so I barely saw the rest of my party, as their horses were all bunched in with the other people, and then at the end of the ride we were just instructed to get off the horses and thats it...so we put our helmets away and left. Just a little more organization/structure would be extremely helpful, and drawing out the trail ride a little more so people are actually riding for the time they paid for...but I would probably buy another groupon, certainly wouldn't pay full price for what we got.

We went on 10/15/16 with a party of 6 riders and had a fantastic time. We ranged from young to old, beginner to experienced and loved it. The horses were amazing and the staff was friendly and helpful. Thanks again.

Love how the farm runs
Oct. 2016 • Friends
The 1st thing you see is the chickens roaming around (quite amazed so many breeds), the cats & dogs leisurely laying around, then the stalls where horses are kept (happily munching).... I can feel the love. Very impressed that the rescue horses are well treated and for a 1st time rider, a little nervous at first but after being tutored by the strong beautiful trainer, the rest is a breeze & enjoyable. Thank you! Keep up the good work!
However if you have ridden before, you may find it a tad boring
