The bazaar is enough capacity to buy herbs and gifts for a good price and to try to feel the traditionalty. The reaching there by walking in the old citys road was nice

Upon visit to Zanzibar, for shopping mostly clothes and footwear, Darajani is a best place to visit, it is a long street with plenty of shops.

The place to go in Stone Town for buying all fruits, spices, or just browsing around. The shopkeepers are friendly and will engage you in good natured banter.

The market has more than you could imagine. In addition to food, vendors sell clothes, electronics, souvenirs, and much more. If you are interested to buy Zanzibar spices, note that some vendors proposed all kind of fancy packs that you won’t find elsewhere. Visit my...More

As it been said. Opens in the early morning and close in the late evening. But if you want to feel the real buzz you should definitely go there ASAP.

They may take other funds but I always paid in Tsh. Depending where you are, it is a relatively easy walk, on the outside of Stone Town
