We booke, a tour within the Tambopata National Reserve with Local Trekkers Peru in Cusco, we talked with Alberto the Manager of this company and from the moment we greeted each other until the end of our conversation (2 hours) we realized that we were dealing with a very good honest and professional person. and we ended up buying a tour of 3 nights and 4 days. the price was reasonable, I could say that it was average with respect to other agencies we had visited. Round trip bus tickets from Cusco to Puerto Maldonado in the Cruz del Sur company were included in the price, actually everything was included. At the bus station in Puerto Maldonado, our guide Augusto was waiting for us. and so our adventure began. already on the tour, Augusto was very friendly and knowledgeable about nature, He knows a lot about flora and fauna, we really learned a lot about the Amazon with him. What we enjoyed most about our trip is having traveled by boat around the Lake Sandoval, where we saw hundreds of birds, caimans, capybaras on the coast and the famous giant river otters. wildlife in its splendor is found in and around the lake sandoval, so it is an unmissable destination on a visit to the tambopata reserve. Everything was very well organized and we do not regret having taken the services of Local Trekkers, that is why we recommend them, so if you are wanting to take a trip within the Tambopata National Reserve, with them you will not regret it.

We saw more animals visiting Lago Sandoval than anywhere else in the jungle. Well worth the trip. Be a good sport and help the guide paddle the boat.

We stayed at one of the local lodges on the lake. Going out at night looking for nocturnal creatures or hearing and seeing the rainforest waking up before sunrise .You'll have the lake to yourself and you'll see alot more animals and birds. Highly recommend to stay on the lake to fully admire it.

There is a timber walkway in place on this quite arduous walk to the Lake, but care is needed to not trip easily due to the planking spaces. Also it was stated as 3000metres but was more like 5000 I estimate. Take lots of water, and ensure you apply sunscreen as you out in the open for several hours, and of course wear a hat. It would also be almost impossible if there are any mobility issues. It was quite difficult getting in and out of the canoes. We did get to see 6 otters and watch from quite a distance
