I just finished two weeks of winery tours across all parts of France. This group was unprepared for our scheduled appointment. There was no one in the office to greet us. We had to call and call before talking with management. They opened a dungeon looking restroom for us and it was too dirty to use. The actual cellar tour... More

Stopped at Saint-Emilion on route from Bordeaux to the Dordogne, the town itself is a lovely place to wander round & offers some great views of the surrounding wine country. Plenty of little gems like the Maison Galhaud to wander round & no end of retailers selling produce of the 'local vineyards'. From world famous labels to smaller producers it is... More

We came upon this place first. Not sure what to expect or where to go and we were pleasantly surprised. Got to go through tunnels, see some cellars, cute back garden. No sales pressure. Pleasant fellow answered our questions, and suggested a few wines for us to try (no charge). These wines won't change your world, but they are definitely... More

A little self-tour of this rustique wine cellar was perfect to escape the September sun. We tried a couple of the wines and walked away cooled and tipsy!

Very interesting to walk in the underground cellar and the staff was very informative about the wines. Loved a couple of the Grand Cru vintages after tasting and bought a couple bottles. Highly recommend the 2009.

This cellar is underground and was interesting to see old cavernous space put to use. It was a bit dark and hard to see in some areas, but certainly worth a walk around.

This wine cellar is located almost in the centre of St Emilion and visit of the cellar is free of charge. The cellar is huge, but not so romantic like neighborhood Clos des Menuts, which we can recommend more.

We were apprehensive about visiting vineyards or a cave du vin on our own. Luckily, Maison Galhaud offered a free wander in their cool, dark cellars. This allowed us to experience the atmosphere without having to endure free tastings and then feeling obliged to make a purchase. They, of course, offer 'dégustation' and I'm sure have plenty of quaffable wines... More

Took a short trip out of Bordeaux to visit the cave. This is not set up as a full visitor experience but rather a relaxed visit to one of the main producers in the Saint Emilion area. A quick tour around the cellars in the village followed by a tasting of three of their wines, increasing in quality. No hard... More

Maison Galhaud is one of the first things you come across on the road to the Saint-Emilion's centre. We went in just to have a look en it was a very nice surprise. The site is beautiful and the caves are a wonderful place to cool off. We got the possibility to try 2 of their wines: a Bordeaux and... More
