This winery was our small family groups first stop of the day and a definite highlight! The motto of No Pretence No B.....t, definitely appealed to some of our group who were horrified at the thought of wine not beer and the terrific atmosphere, genuine friendly lay back owner and some pretty darn good wine to boot saw some die... Went there purely because of the name and their catchphrase...no pretentions,no b...s....t. Very refreshing to be able to taste wine in a very quirky place with a very nice owner only too happy to spend time explaining things and have a chat. No wine snobs here, just nice wines. Took some home. Also have some carton specials available. A very... More
This is a bit of a hidden gem as the wines are not easily brought in the bigger outlets. This is a top drop with very friendly owners who are more than helpful and is more than worth a visit.
Would go again. We were a large family group with 5 young children; 2 years and under and the manager was wonderful. The wine tastings were very generous and lovely and it was a very relaxed environment with children.
What a gem. We have visited this wine region many times but have somehow missed this one. I keep asking myself why, as not only is the wine bloody good but the whole layout of the property from the road to the parking area is amazing. Whilst driving slowly in, we were passing sheep with new born lambs lazing amongst... More
Larry was not only entertaining he makes some great wines. Mongrel Creek was one of the best wineries we visited our our day tour. Try the sparking wine, I am not a sparkling wine person, but we came away with some. What an amazing, quirky place to visit. It was great and its on our list to take friends.
My partner and I go to Mongrel Creek to top up on our sparkling wine whenever we are down south. The guy that runs Mongrel Creek is brilliant for a chat and has some excellent stories! Go have a wine tasting and a chat :)
Yes. Quirkiest is right. What a terrific spot and the opposite of all those big company vineyards. The cellar door is in an old rustic building with all sorts of old farm equipment around. Service is friendly and fun. No tasting notes just get on and enjoy what you like and no need to.pretwnd that the gold medal winner is... More
This is probably the quirkiest winery we have been to. It looks like a very old building but is actually not very old at all. There are plenty of farming artifacts and photos hanging on the walls. The owners were really friendly and happy to talk about the winery and how the current weather was affecting the quality of wine.... More
