The Nornalup Inlet and the smaller Walpole Inlet is only part of this great marine park.
A beautiful estuary that has some steep granite and rocky shores.
Picnic tables and barbecues are provided along the shores of the marine park at Coalmine Beach picnic area. There is a lookout at The Knolls.

I stood and watched over the river, and watched the untouched landscape of the beautiful trees. It was like lookung at a time that once was, you could almost imagine the first nations people walking around amoungst the trees. Just beautiful

WOW Eco tours was an educational trip like I have never experienced before. The guide (pilot), Gary ,of our boat was obviously enjoying his job, not only earning a living. His love of and knowledge of the area was the best narration I have heard. His humour and energy has to be seen to be believed. he kept us totally entertained and absorbed. Would highly recommend.

I've been here a number of times now, and it's just beautiful, but especially so on a sunny day. The Walpole-Nornalup Inlet consists of two connected inlets, the smaller and shallower Walpole Inlet in the north (where you'll find the town jetty and a boat ramp), and the larger and deeper Nornalup Inlet in the south. They are connected by a 1km long channel commonly called "The Channels". The Deep River runs into the inlet from the west (with Newdegate Island or "Snake Island" in the inlet near its mouth), and the Frankland River from the east.
The channel is particularly scenic, and can be accessed from both sides. On the western side is Rest Point, which is accessed via quite a long drive around from Walpole, where there's a caravan park, a jetty, and I've often seen stingrays here. On the eastern side is The Knolls, which has steep rocky shores and beautiful trees, and is accessed via the Knoll Scenic Drive. While it's nice to walk along the waters edge near Rest Point, I especially enjoyed the drive around the 5km Knoll Scenic Drive, where there are several good stopping places, some with BBQs, picnic tables, and gazebos. Along this drive you can also access Coalmine Beach, which has a caravan park and public toilets/showers; the Bibbulmun track goes from here into town via Coalmine Beach Heritage Trail, and I enjoyed walking a stretch of it. There's lots of water birds, and I'm told that the entire area has great estuary fishing too.
Another way to enjoy the Walpole-Nornalup Inlet is by boat with the WOW Wilderness Ecocruise. This has its own entry on TripAdvisor, so check the reviews there as well. This cruise is run by Gary Muir, a well informed and very knowledgeable local, who has a massive personality and really has a lot to share about the nature and the history of the area. Our cruise took us right up to Skippy Rock Channel, which is where the inlet meets the ocean, and where we got to walk over the peninsula from the jetty at The Depot through to Shelly Beach, a beautiful wilderness area. I'd love to try the other track from Sealers Cover to Circus Beach some day! So many beautiful wilderness areas here!

A lovely place. Launched the boat from here, a nice quiet place to launch from and a beautiful trip up the river, so quiet and pretty.

Went on a short commercial boat ride and saw plenty of bird life. A must for bird watchers. The only downside was the boat tour guide who chattered incessantly about history rather than the bird life and nature (or should have just let visitors enjoy the quiet nature).

This is one of the prettiest of the South Coast Estuaries but unfortunately the Black Bream Fishery is not what it once was so if that is the purpose of your visit you may well be dissapointed
