This park is on the southern shore of Lake Ontario about an hour south of Oswego. There is a pebble beach and several trails. The one I went on, and I'm guessing, the one with the most dramatic scenery, is the Bluffs trail. The bluffs...More

We read about this place on TripAdvisor and thought we would visit. We had to drive about an hour and a half to get there, but it was definitely worth it. The views of Lake Ontario are beautiful. We parked at the main entrance where...More

Locals highly recommended visiting Chimney Bluffs while visiting Sodus Bay. We had seen pictures and were excited to visit the park. Unfortunately our trip to the park was on a rainy day and the trails were completely soaked with water and mud! We were not...More

This is a really neat place to visit, with tall spires of rock-studded dirt that extend into the skylines. It is eroded a little bit by the lake and winds every year, but it is very moon-like in its appearance. It is a great place...More

We hiked Chimney Bluffs with our kids. It was a little muddy in places but easy enough our 4 year old could do it. It was nice hearing and seeing the waves crashing down below and the hike took about one hour each way. Pictures...More

This is an unusual park, with the very interesting naturally eroded drumlins forming spires and shapes that gradually change over time. Take the time to learn the interesting geology behind it, from the sign near the picnic area rest rooms. If you just want to...More

While the paths are more mud than path with our weather...it is very much worth it. Gorgeous views, wind, and the sound of the lake hitting the shore. The bluff trail is not for those that fear heights...at times there is very little between you...More

Growing up in Rochester, NY, I had heard of Chimney Bluffs but being in my backyard, I never went. What a treat I have been missing! The hike into the bluffs is gentle so you can enjoy being in the woods. When you come out...More

No. I saw people prepared with swimming gear and maybe they went into the water, but this is not intended. No beach or lifeguard.

We recently visited Chimney Bluffs State Park and except for the trails being somewhat muddy, we did not run into any issues with flooding. However, I am aware that some places on the shore of Lake Ontario are still having... More

We did not have a dog when we were visiting, but we did see others with their dogs while at Chimney Bluffs. I think I remember seeing a dog waste pick up pole with little trash bags when we visited. Definitely worth the... More
