Great place to drive up to but once you arrives the walk on the path for 2 pretty good shape seniors, was a tough. The walk is uphill all the way. 2.5 miles to top. Beautiful wooded surroundings. Loose gravel on path sorta a problem coming down hill all the way. We made it halfway. It was pretty hot in... More

We did the blue trail and then down the swimming hole. Steep scrambling for the kids but they made it. Views were amazing and water was freezing!

Climb a rock wall or take a casual hike. Beautiful scenes of the mountains and the wildlife and wild flowers. Take your time and enjoy the scenery.

Hike the Gunks! The carriage road to see the climbers is worth it - 5 miles but an easy walk. Would have liked to see Minniwaska State Park but it was closed due to fire situation. Glad for the rain.

Great place for hikers, the geology of the Shawangunk Ridge is spectacular. Easy hiking opportunities for beginners with more difficult terrain available, too. Make it a point to go for the views, especially in the Fall.

Such an amazing place - love the energy in the Gunks and try to get up here as often as I can. So much to do and see in the area and I always wish I had more time.

Gorgeous mountains, set as backdrop to New Paltz, NY. Take a drive up the winding road, pull to the side and hike to the summit. See the beautiful Hudson Valley from way up high. Explore the many lakes, waterfalls & swim areas which are refreshing in summer, beautiful in winter, spring & fall.

We hiked up to the lookout and then walked around the loop trail. It was a beautiful, easy hike to do on our way out of town.

The great mountains for climbing and exploring amazing rock formations and caves are almost always in the West. The "Gunks" is a rare and amazing exception. Close to New York City in the heart of the metropolitan area is this ridge extension of the Adirondacks that includes NJ's Kittatinny and PA's Blue Mountains. It is filled with amazing climbs, rock... More
